Terrassa Honest Food — Restaurant in Amarante

Came in for lunch on a Saturday but only a brunch menu was available. For my eating plan I needed something a bit healthier… like the salmon and some vegetables… but I stayed anyway because the welcoming was so friendly and lovely attention to details with the interior, crockery and presentation.

Had the pumpkin soup (good but needed more flavour) and the burger (handmade and perfectly done if you like it done medium). Loved that I could order a brut sparkling wine!

The service was incredible… in fact I don’t think I’ve received this level of service in Portugal and as a restaurant owner myself in the country, it was really nice to see the customer valued. As an interior architect too, I’m not sure the high tables work well in the main space. The restaurant seems new and if I recall this street has changed bit since I was last here… it’s been pedestrianised. It was raining on my day but I can imagine it being packed in summer with the view over the river.

Terrassa was amazingly delicious! We chose the fresh bread with olive oil as our starter and the Spinach Tagliatelle with Burrata for our main plus we decided on two glasses of the Vilarissa Valley Douro Doc 2021 wine and Oh my Goddess!! It was a phenomenal pairing! No regrets!! The bread was delicious with the regional olive oil and balsamic vinegar and the melted burrata cheese was melt in your mouth good with the pasta and wine! Do have sips of wine with pasta in your mouth it’s truly an amazing combo.. and the wine…. What can I say about the wine.. * it was the cleanest tasting wine I have ever had, no terrible left over flavours in your mouth just pure delicious I want to bring a bottle home.

The place is amazing, right next to the river, with an unbelievable view. We stayed outside, but inside, the restaurant is also beautiful, in an old restored house! The staff are super friendly and try their best to fulfil all our requests. 5 stars! I'm vegan and there were plenty of options for me, both in terms of food and desserts! That's very rare! I also learnt that they follow a sustainable and local approach! For example, the wine list is only made up of wines from the region and indicates the kilometres away from production.
