Vila Terrazza Ristorante — Restaurant in Barcelos

Looking for a good Italian restaurant, we were very lucky to have chosen this one as tourists in Barcelos. Because it was 9PM, of course very busy on a saturday evening. We had tried to make a reservation on our walk to the restaurant, but they couldn't answer, which is understandable. The lady of the house was so kind to do everything she could to give us a table within 10 minutes. We were happy bevause the atmosphere and the food passing by looked great. And this was exactly how it was. The sangria with red fruit was delicious. As starters, we took the 2 kinds of bruschetta. (Safe choice because our daughter wanted to taste some). They were delicious but there was a great variety of starters you normally don't have in an Italian restaurant. As main course, we had 3 different types of pasta. I had the sepia nero with gambas which was really delicious, tastes in perfect balance. My husband had the tagliatelliwith salmon and my daughter enjoyed the penne also very much. We did not have dessert. Maby next time. Last thing to mention, the service was excellent. The girls worked very hard to make it as pleasant as possible for everyone. Parabéns! Uma experiência bastante aquém das expectativas no Vila Terrazza. O espaço apresenta-se como um restaurante de inspiração italiana, mas infelizmente tanto o atendimento como a comida ficaram muito longe do padrão que seria de esperar.

Um dos responsáveis (possivelmente o dono), identificado por barba e tatuagens na casa dos seus 50 anos de idade, circulava pela sala com roupa de cozinha e farinha nas mãos. Embora se possa considerar um toque “autêntico”, em termos de higiene e profissionalismo não é aceitável. Para além disso, atendeu de forma descuidada, falando ao telefone enquanto lidava com os clientes, e adotando uma postura arrogante e pouco respeitosa — mais próxima de alguém a dar ordens do que de quem recebe e acolhe.

A refeição, por sua vez, revelou-se fraca e sem ligação real à cozinha italiana tradicional, soando antes a uma jogada de marketing pouco consistente. O atendimento brusco e sem sensibilidade apenas reforçou a sensação de um serviço sem classe e sem verdadeira hospitalidade.

Independentemente de ser ou não o proprietário, a verdade é que ninguém é dono da presença dos clientes, e esta foi a última vez que me senti motivado a visitar este espaço.

A very disappointing experience at Vila Terrazza. The restaurant presents itself as inspired by Italian cuisine, but unfortunately both the service and the food fell far short of expectations.

One of the staff members (possibly the owner), recognizable by his beard and tattoos maybe around 50yo, walked around the dining room in kitchen clothes with flour on his hands. While some might call this “authentic,” in terms of hygiene and professionalism it is simply not acceptable. On top of that, he served guests while speaking on the phone and carried himself in an arrogant and dismissive manner — more as if giving orders than welcoming customers.

As for the food, it was weak and bore little resemblance to genuine Italian cuisine, coming across more as a marketing gimmick than a culinary experience. The brusque and insensitive service only reinforced the impression of a place lacking class and true hospitality.

Whether or not this person is the owner, the truth is that no one owns the customers’ presence — and this was the last time we felt inclined to visit...

Second time here and as immigrants to the country of Portugal, Vila Terrazza food makes you feel like you are in Italy and the staff make you feel like you at home in Barcelos. The mushrooms (cogumelos gratinados) in the creamy sauce are to die for!! The spaghetti carbonara, lasagna tradicional, penne gratinada, carbonara alla gambrel, T-bone and pizzas are all fantastic meals, you won't leave hungry!! Desserts are great too!! But a server like Miguel at Vila Terrazzo make the experience all the better and all the staff I dealt with are very gracious and understanding. Ample parking, the restaurante is set up great. It's my go to spot and making reservations by phone is easy but practice your Portuguese. If you are in Barcelos, regardless of where you are from, for any occasion or no occasion special at all, Vila Terrazza is your place!!

Segunda vez aqui e como imigrantes para o país de Portugal, a comida Vila Terrazza faz você se sentir como se estivesse na Itália e a equipe faz você se sentir em casa em Barcelos. Os cogumelos (cogumelos gratinados) no molho cremoso são de morrer!! O espaguete carbonara, lasanha tradicional, penne gratinada, carbonara alla gambrel, T-bone e pizzas são refeições fantásticas, você não vai sair com fome!! Sobremesas também são ótimas!! Mas um servidor como Miguel em Vila Terrazzo torna a experiência ainda melhor e toda a equipe com quem lidei é muito gentil e compreensiva. Amplo estacionamento, o restaurante está muito bem montado. É o meu lugar e fazer reservas por telefone é fácil, mas pratique seu português.
