We went to try Bajwas Curry in Braga and it was a genuinely positive experience. The place has a really nice, welcoming atmosphere, makes you feel right at home. The owner was very friendly and welcomed us warmly. The food..., really good. You can tell the quality is there, everything full of flavour and made with care. It was so good that we only remembered to take photos halfway through, after we'd already dug in!
We started with some Vegetable Samosas, which were crispy and just right, and also some Papadums, that thin and crispy Indian bread, great for nibbling with the sauces. We also ordered Plain Naan and Garlic Naan – both were delicious and perfect for soaking up the curry sauces later.
Then, we moved on to the main dishes. We tried the Shahi Paneer, a creamy, orange-coloured curry made with homemade paneer cheese, which was delicious. But the dish that truly won us over was the Baingan Bharta. It's a dish with smoked aubergine, well-seasoned and with a spicy kick – absolutely spectacular. My girlfriend, who has good references for homemade Indian food, liked it so much she declared it her new favourite dish. This Baingan Bharta was really on another level.
To accompany it, we ordered a Cucumber Raita, a fresh yoghurt and cucumber sauce that paired perfectly with everything, especially the Naan and Papadums.
For drinks, I tried the Mango Lassi and the Rose Lassi. I liked both, but the mango one was especially good – I could easily have taken one or two more home. At the end, we also tried the Kalakand Ice Cream, a different kind of ice cream inspired by an Indian sweet, which was a nice way to finish the meal.
The lady owner was impeccable, super attentive throughout the meal, and even seemed willing to share some recipe tips, which just shows the passion she has for what she does.
Regarding the spiciness: we asked for it spicy, but for those used to stronger levels at home, it seemed mild. So, those who aren't big fans of spicy food can go without fear. If you really want it very spicy, it might be a good idea to really emphasize the request!
In summary: an excellent experience. I highly recommend visiting this place. It was totally worth it!

Recomendo vivamente a visita. Valeu...
Read morerecently dined at Bajwa’s Curry & Cocktails in Braga, and I have to say, their vegetarian offerings exceeded my expectations! I ordered the Baingan Bharta with Boondi Raita and Tawa Roti, and it was an absolutely delightful meal.
The Baingan Bharta was perfectly smoky and rich, with just the right balance of spices that made every bite a burst of flavor. The mashed eggplant had a wonderful texture, and it paired beautifully with the freshly made Tawa Roti, which was soft, warm, and had that perfect homemade feel. The Boondi Raita was refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly, adding a cooling contrast to the bold flavors of the Bharta.
The atmosphere at Bajwa’s was cozy and inviting, and the service was excellent—attentive yet not intrusive. It truly felt like a home-cooked meal but with the elegance of a well-crafted restaurant experience. I would hightly recommend you to visit and try their amazing chef special icecream
If you’re a vegetarian and love authentic Indian flavors, I highly recommend trying this combination at Bajwa’s. I will definitely be coming...
Read moreWe visited here on a week night, in a beautiful and tranquil part of the city, just off the very centre.
We spoke to the owners, very charming and friendly people who were super attentive. They explained the foods to us and how the dishes are kept as natural as possible whilst sourcing ingredients from local producers.
The food is absolutely fantastic. Very natural and fresh flavours. You get what you pay for as they say.
There are a small handful of Indian restaurants in Braga which I have tried and this is the best in my opinion. I have been visiting the city with my partner who is a Braga native, for the past 15 years and it is great to see a small business like this to bring some variety.
A special mention to the lady who is working very hard to run this place, you can tell she gives 110% to anything she puts her hands to and has almost single handedly set up this whole business including the shop design.
Very nice people, very nice food. A great little asset to the local community and we will...
