Local Beach Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Calheta

Today I visited this spot with my financée and our experience was pretty bad all around. From the incorrect order of drinks to very, very mediocre food, we had an overall bad experience. Service was bad aswell, ..asked for an ashtray 3 times! over the course of an hour and ended up putting out my cigarette on the remains of my tasteless food since I wouldn't wanna litter on the floor.

The waitrese didnt even bother to say anything let alone apologize when she clearly saw cigarette filters clustered over the blend remains of my Caprese Salat.

Still, when it came to paying, there was this short moment of silence in which she clearly expected me to call a tip on my total before she put it in the credit card terminal. Absolutely ridiculous!

I have never ever written a bad review about a restaurant because the taste of food should always be in the eye of the beholder, but this place is well below...

If I could I would give 0 stars never in my life have I recieved service worse, as someone who works in hospitality I am usually leaniant but this was beyond disappointing, we must've been 1 out of 5 tables and there was over 8 people on shift and it still took me over 20 minutes to even be served, I watched people around me after, wait similar times or longer, workers where rude and seemed annoyed they had to be there, had expressions and communication of droids, it was distasteful service and a waste of my time, also from all the time I've spent in madeira their food was overpriced and incredibly mediocre it definitely is not representative of the rest of this beautiful island, don't go here it'll...

The staff was friendly (to us at least), but the service is unusual. We ordered drinks, starter & main. The mains arrived before anything else, drinks about 5 minutes later, starter didn’t show up at all.

The staff did seem tense about the delays, there was some anger between them. They need more than one person running the bar when busy.

We had tacos, which were sadly hard-shell, fries, and ordered a garlic bread that we didn’t get. The content of the tacos was nice, tasted fresh, but the beef was served cold/lukewarm, which was a bit unusual as well.
