The atmosphere is quite nice, with friendly staff and pleasant service — no complaints there.
However, when it comes to the food, it’s unfortunately very average or even below that. I never write a review without trying at least 3–4 different dishes, and this time I did. What stood out the most is the noticeable use of the cheapest ingredients and a clear lack of care or soul in the cooking.
The borscht was decent at first taste, but everyone at our table who tried it experienced heartburn afterwards — likely due to an excessive amount of poor-quality oil.
The pastrami? I’m sorry, but that’s not pastrami. It was just a random cut of sinewy meat, heavily masked by a Thousand Island-style sauce. The bread? The lowest-grade packaged toast — not even lightly toasted or presented with intention.
The saving grace was the syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes), which were tasty, and the turkey with mashed potatoes, which was also ok.
The real issue here is the lack of quality dining options in Cascais — and the owners of this place seem to know that. It feels like there’s little motivation to compete, simply because there’s no competition.
Please, pay attention to the quality of ingredients and the love that goes into the preparation. This place could be great — it just...
Read moreIt wasn’t my first time in the place as I live nearby. What we instantly noticed - the prices seem to noticeably increase since our last visit. However I’m not working in horeca business so probably pricing is justified by rent and other expenses. What is definitely not justifiable for me as a client is that when I was ordering my food (fried eggs with brie and mushrooms for 14 euro) I was offered to add chanterelle mushrooms which I agreed to but later, after receiving a bill, found out it costed additional 10 euro. So in the end we paid 24 euro for 3 fried eggs, two pieces of Brie and some chopped chanterelles. Again, I might be poorly informed on current cost of food but 24 euro for a simple breakfast dish in the brunch cafe in residential area in Portugal seems for very much overpriced. Probably worth mentioning the price of such addition to the clients in advance to avoid...
Read moreThe food is decent but nothing special. The service is terrible. The waitress didn’t know anything about the menu items. We asked if there was anything available to go with the coffee—she promised to check about dessert but never came back with an answer.
I received my dish only after all the surrounding tables, even though they arrived later. If we hadn’t reminded the waitress, we wouldn’t have been able to eat at all because she forgot about our order.
No utensils were provided with the dish—we had to ask separately. They also don’t serve decaf coffee.
There is absolutely no desire to return to this place. The city has plenty of great alternatives where both the food and service are...
