Great little gem of a place the atmosphere is really chilled with different live music every night, which is low key and professional. The staff are friendly and informative, if you tend to revisit they remember what you have ordered previously. The food and drink is good value for money and there is plenty of seating. We preferred to sit at the tables outside as the ones round the edge which have screens to the road side and the grape vines over top felt a lot warmer but o tend to like the fresh breeze. It’s open till 2am not that we ever staid that late, few drinks and home. It’s got a friendly mix of locals and tourists sitting around chatting or playing cards. Will definitely visit again when back in Madeira. It does get very busy on a Friday and Saturday evening and the drinks are slower coming out during this time. If your only having drinks only it’s worth noting that you have to pay for them each round rather than running up a bill (maybe if you ask to start a tab you can, but we were happy to pay...
Read moreI've been here twice on my holiday to funchal as it's close to our hotel. On my first visit my daughter ordered some chips and they came within a few minutes they weren't great but I really wasn't expecting much it was just something to fill the gap. It was pretty busy and they had some entertainment on which wasn't to my taste but others seemed to enjoy it. Second visit was just a quick stop for a drink. Upon arrival you're immediately told to sit down but we wanted to see what drinks they had available at the bar and the lady behind the bar didn't seem to like this. When we did find a table we had to ask for it to be cleaned as it was still sticky and dirty (maybe from the night before) the place was empty apart from us and one other table so there was no reason dirty tables. The man who took our orders was nice enough. We ordered the local Coral beer which was terrible compared to others we've had at different places. Not for us much better places to spend your time...
Read moreOur 'local', where we popped in for a few most evenings on passing. Very attentive waiters, particularly one (I think his name was Vito), who made us feel very welcome, advised on the different drinks, and also supplied a good few nibbles of nuts and crisps. The gins are especially amazing, come with a single golf-ball sized ice cube with fever-tree tonics and appropriate garnish. We did eat there one evening, and the food was of good quality being typical pub grub. There is a very good choice of beers from local to European lagers, stouts, pilsner, weissbier, British ale, and the obligatory Guinness, all this and really good value for money. Lots of outside seating with 2 x large screens playing sports and live entertainment every evening, and one act is a guy with his guitar makes a particularly happy/party atmosphere! It's worth a visit if you like a...
