O Carlos — Restaurant in Idanha-a-Nova

We've been to portugal 5 times and traveled throughout the country extensively. This got to be the worst overall experience we had dining in Portugal. As other reviews stated, the entradas were terrible: old bread, very sour Olives and very old chorizo I wouldnt feed to my dog. The main course we had porc and fish. The porc was okay, but the fish was far from fresh and didnt look good at all. Dodgy taste and we send it back. They even had the nerve to ask if we knew if bacalhau was a fish diner. We have been coming to this area for past decade, past few years it’s been a struggle to find a decent restaurant. This one passes by very unnoticed as it’s on the way to centre of Monsanto but it’s best of all! Exceptional in the area, great quality meat perfectly cooked and seasoned. From great board of meat as a starter to amazing main courses. Simple salad well dressed, that’s were it starts for me. Good choice of wine and well organised quick service. Fantastic place! We were a very large group of people that came in late at night and they did everything to make us feel welcomed. All the food was top quality!! Very good cheese and wine. The grills are phenomenal! Highlights were the huge shrimp skewers and the steak on the (hot) rock that unfortunately i didn’t take any pictures of because I was too busy enjoying it.
