We hadn’t been here for over 2 years as we thought it had gone downhill, but friends recommended we try again and we were not disappointed. The evening menu for €14 included bread and olives, starter, main course, dessert, coffee, wine and a glass of port was great value with a reasonable choice of mains. We had the steak which we knew wouldn’t be top end but it wasn’t chewy and perfectly acceptable. Others with us had fish and turkey steak which also looked very good. The wine was very drinkable and the service efficient and friendly so we will undoubtedly be back soon. UPDATE: The set menu has increased to €15 in 2023 but still great value and food every bit as good! Read moreI have just had a very unpleasant experience at Cosinha do Avo. Prior to going there for lunch I had checked and double checked if dogs are accepted as I was planning to bring my small and well behaved dog with me. The restaurant info clearly states that “dogs are allowed” (see attachment). So I drove over 20km to have lunch there. Upon arrival I was stopped at the gate by a rather unpleasant waitress and told that they do not accept dogs and that they will not let me in with my dog! The waitress said that it does not matter what it says on google maps (I of course showed her the “dogs are allowed” statement) and basically sent me on my way.
