This was sold to us and advertised as one of the new "fine dining" options at Vila Vita, which is an absolutely amazing resort. However, a couple of their new places Mizu and Giordinos (their new Italian option) have some real growing pains before it is worth a visit. The scenery from the outer terrace is great, but that's about all you can say. The food is average at best, ambience kitschy and very small portions at a very high price point. After being upsold on an expensive bottle of sake, the bill ended up being 800 euros for very little satiation, and what was provided was average quality with no wow factor, and your local sushi bar could rival or exceed. Staffing is a major concern and they will need to figure things out or else people won't go. There are better options at Vila, which again, is an amazing, amazing resort which we highly recommend, but for dining they need to stick with local cuisine unless they have the staffing, menu and chef's who specialize in the cuisine offered. Adega, Aladin and Ocean are fantastic places on site. Adega, their Portuguese option, punched out of its weight class and is 1/4 of the price of Mizu. Even Vila Joya another 2 star place just down the road was similar price point to Mizu. Staff was very friendly at MIzu, but its all kitsch (from the decor and uniforms) and needs some revamping. You are better served at the other places mentioned, or there are some other better off site local places to check out. Get some Piri Piri at Ramirez or head to Evaristo down the road for an amazing, reasonably priced meal...
Read moreMizu Teppanyaki is a wonderful, wonderful experience. We visited twice this week and we've been several times before. What always strikes me is two things. One, the team are so personable and so friendly. They take every moment to make you feel welcomed, happy, and cared for. My wife has celiac disease, so it's quite severe and it's important to make sure that she feels safe and can eat healthy, suitable food. They take every care to clearly label everything and they also ask different details to make sure that everything is exactly as it needs to be. The food is healthy, very tasty, and delicious, but the personable service from everyone and the warm reception is outstanding. It's something you can't experience somewhere else. Now, this is within Villa Vita Resort and honestly, everybody here is outstanding from a service and a hospitality and a warmth perspective. Very few places in the world can bring full warmth and full energy to making your experience feel good, but here they do this every single time. I highly recommend so many of the dishes here, but Mizu Teppanyaki is a gorgeous place, well worth your visit in...
Read moreWe are big fans of Nobu in London and New York and this restaurant comes quite close to it in regards to the taste of some selected courses (e.g. cod fish, tuna teriyaki) and the location is really nice. The people working there are very friendly and attentive but it was also conspicuous -at least in my opinion- (either it is pressure or order from above) that everything what was recommend to us was always the most expensive (regional wine, what to choose on the menu). We were also very surprised when we realized on the bill that the glass of champagne which was imposed to us at the beginning costs actually EUR 36.- (good that I said at least that I just want to start with a...
