This evening had could end in a desaster but… From the beginning things went wrong. We were placed on a table and then we were completely forgotten. After a while I asked for something to drink. A glass of of Portugiese white wine. The waiter came with a wine from New Zealand. No problem he disappeared and came not back for a long time. We also have not received the menue for a while and at least we could nothing order, because still no one took notice from us. At the end, everything came together, the food the wines…andthat in a 5 star resort with appropriate prices.why also a 5 star rezension? Because there was a manager who apologized in a extremely sympathetic and honest way. He was totally in stress but never lost the respect and the humor. He turned this evening from a desaster to a very nice dinner. Of course, it was also helpful that he spent the wine, but at he end he took all the mistakes that happened and was able to make them to a positive experience. Bravo! Unfortunately I did not asked his name. Conclusion: Good food, nice wines and outstanding...
Read moregreat location, great decoration, great service, great food, great sangria, but when the bill came, we got a shock: filtered tap water costs 80 € for four bottles for four persons: 20 € for 0.75 liters of simple tap water? More expensive than good beer or good Portuguese wine: THAT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. All other prices for food and drinks are acceptable, but not this horrendous price for for tap water. Tap water needs to be offered for free in France (legislation to combat alcoholism). In Portugal such legislation does not exist. But tap water should be charged max a few € and much less than any alcoholic drink. We pay much less for tap water at the Côte d'Azur or in Monaco. We visited this restaurant for the first time (4 persons) and it will definitely be the last time. German hospitality : no thank you. This is an insult for German generosity. And we will definitely no longer buy...
Read moreI had my birthday lunch in the Whale restaurant. Firstly my wife had offered to pay for the table to be decorated with balloons etc, she was told this was not possible. Bad start. Overall comment is that for a 5-star hotel, the service was 3-star. Only one decent waiter at the beginning to see if we wanted a champagne starter. Very jolly. The rest of the staff either didn’t appear or were very unmotivated. It took my wife 3 attempts and 20 minutes of waiting to receive a bill. Food was a mix. I ordered the John Dory burger, 3 thin strips of fish with lots of white cabbage was not what I would expect for 21 euros. The orange chicken dish was very acidic, and in general the food was over salted (even by Portugese standards). Beautiful view but not 5...
