The only reason this restaurant gets two stars is 1 for the service and 2 for the sangria. Hardly enough to make me return.
After reading the reviews and being recommended to eat here by our hotel, we had high hopes for Tasca 26. We were unable to book a table due to high demand, but were told if you arrive after 7pm you would just give your name and wait a little while until a table was available for you.
A little while turned into an hour and a half of standing on the street outside the restaurant. However we were warned there would be some form of wait, so didn't write the restaurant off at that point.
The server Tiago was great! Very attentive which unfortunately we had to make use of as my husband's meal had to be sent back twice.
We order a fillet steak medium rare and both times the steak came back so rare that the plate was swimming with blood. I had the same dish and although you could argue the steak was cooked correctly, it was so chewy that I couldn't finish.
Also, the meal was drenched in peppercorn sauce meaning that the taste of the meat was second to that of peppercorns, not what you want when your paying money for a steak.
After the second return we decided to get the bill and leave. As mentioned Tiago was great and very apologetic. We could not fault the service.
For a restaurant that gets so much hype, I would not return. If your thinking of giving Tasca 26 a try, don't bother without a booking unless your happy to wait a long time for a chef who can't seem to differentiate between a blue steak and...

The restaurant doesn’t get 5 stars from me because the amount of bugs in the restaurant was truly unsettling. When our food finally arrived (a bit slow but typical for Europe for sure) I honestly just wanted to pay and leave I was getting bit by bugs and having flies land on me every second. The restaurant was also unseasonably warm which made me quite sweaty.
