Would have loved to try it but I was purposely ignored by the waitress.
I sat for over 15 minutes waiting for anything. No greeting, no menu, no acknowledgement at all. In the meantime, she served 3 other tables around me! She just ignored me specifically.
I had really wanted to try the bubble tea and poutine, especially since I am from Canada and miss it so much living here.
Edit: thank you for the polite response.
Perhaps a sign outside or a small sticker on the table next to the QR code could be an idea for us foreigners? I have been to many other bistros along that holiday strip, and it has been table service at all other touristy spots that aren't typical Portuguese snack bars. So, I just assumed this would be like all those other places.
I do have to reiterate the fact the server gave zero acknowledgement of any kind at any point. Not even a smile hello. A simple greeting could have solved this confusion. Or asking if I had ordered yet. I guess we both made incorrect assumptions.
It seems strange a server would see a customer sitting there with nothing in front of them, not even a drink, and just assume they must have ordered already. Shouldn't she know who has ordered what, in order to deliver it to the correct table? The fact is it felt like she specifically avoided any sort of acknowledgement or eye contact completely, and that was very unfortunate. That is generally what people do when they do not wish to interact with a person.
Also, do you allow dogs inside when ordering? I often have my dog.
Maybe if I am ever back in Quarteira, I will try again. Hopefully, it will be a much better experience. I...
Read moreCompletely obsessed with this little gem! Boba Cha is the sweetest beachside cafe in the Algarve. If you're a bubble tea lover, this place is a must. Their drinks are super refreshing, full of flavor, and perfectly chewy pearls every time!
But it doesn’t stop there — they've also brought a fun Canadian twist to the Algarve with their amazing poutines! Crispy fries, rich gravy, and squeaky cheese curds? Heaven. Their toasties are also next-level — warm, cheesy, and super satisfying.
The vibe is chill, the staff are absolutely lovely, and everything is made with care. It’s the perfect spot to grab a tasty treat after the beach or just relax and soak up good energy.
Highly recommend Boba Cha — it’s a little slice of...
Read moreBoba Cha Cafe in Quarteira is a fantastic spot to enjoy a snack with a view. This modern, trendy, and impeccably clean cafe offers inviting outdoor seating right across from the boardwalk and Quarteira Beach. We tried the poutine, which was absolutely delicious—rich, cheesy, and perfectly satisfying. To drink, we had the Mojito Maracujá Tea, a refreshing and flavorful choice. The atmosphere is both relaxed and vibrant, and Nancy, the owner—who, like myself, is Portuguese-Canadian—is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re craving a quick bite or a refreshing drink by the beach, Boba Cha Cafe is definitely...
