O Rei dos Grelhados — Restaurant in Loulé

Shocking service, a real faulty towers - the only good thing to say is that the grill chef that cooks in the ally, is a gent and great at grilling fish. The owner is old and gets confused as to who has ordered what and even goes to thew wrong tables with wine. Our food was decent but we were asked if we wanted a dessert, he did not come to take the order after waiting around 20 mins.So we asked for the bill - it came without to much delay, got up to pay it to a guy that was sitting near the till on his computer that we had seen taking orders for drinks earlier, advised us they do not accept cards - so we were fortunate we had enough cash to pay the bill. there were plenty of staff (maybe family) but they all seems clueless or lazy.

The owner told us he opens at 6.30 pm - we arrived at 6.35 pm only to find he was having his own meal. We waited and it was not till around 7.10 that we were brought the menus. No wonder there were very few customers in the place,in fact some came and walked out as the service was so bad before they even had ordered. Still if you want entertainment , this bunch certainly provide it if you have the patience.

Might be better for Lunch if you sit outside - great spot to sit and drink and eat if you have the afternoon to spare.

We would not bother to go again as there are so many other good places around. Pity as it is a great location, maybe they have just been around to long and do not...

Do not eat here. Awful place. Ate there without looking at reviews. Grill man was nice and welcomed us in off the street. The fish he cooked us was nice but small portions, but that was as good as it got. Manager was a pig, forgot orders and drinks, tried the old trick of adding on extras for bread and cheese that we said no to. Prices are only for the main course. Potatoes or chips or salad all cost extra €2.50 per person, so its not cheap to eat here compared to any other place nearby. Glad to say though that we ate out in 5 other local Quarteira restaurants and they were all fatastic, so this is just an outlier that needs a revamp or to be avoided...

Never again! So disappointed with the service (they were letting us know they couldn't wait to clear our lunch plates). Old staff who have no clue about restaurant business. Such a shame as the restaurant is very nice and located overlooking the beach. The place has so much potential but it is not put to good use here. The bill came and total shock!! We were charged for one robalo for 51 euros...94 euros total bill for 3 of us. So expensive and the menu prices are incorrect. Beware if you dare to go here. Much much better other local restaurants in the Quarteira area and value for your hard earned money should be...
