Dokas Beach — Restaurant in Loulé

I’m really surprised by all the bad reviews of this restaurant. My girlfriend and I have just been for lunch (Saturday lunchtime 23rd Dec) and ordered the traditional Portuguese cover (bread, sardine paste, olives, cheese), sardines to start and both ordered sea bass with fries and salad. Along with a large beer and small bottle of wine the bill came to just short of €70 which for the quality of the food we felt was very good.

Now, the sardines were really good - well cooked and nicely grilled over charcoal. But the sea bass was another level. We both got really good sized fish, simply and perfectly charcoal grilled to give that lovely smoky taste, slightly charred around the edges, and nicely seasoned with salt.

Food wise, the only issue we had was that the cheese had obviously been left uncovered for a while and was dry around the edges. Otherwise a really nice meal.

The staff were all really pleasant and efficient, the food arrived quickly from ordering, and e were checked in to see if everything was ok. The only reason for dropping a star from the atmosphere rating is because there was only one other table of people dining so it was a bit quiet. Otherwise we wouldn’t hesitate to return here. Do not enter this shady restaurant, especially foreign tourists. They treat all customers like idiots. If I ordered sea bass, they would replace me with smelly carp from the lake. When I find out! The shop owner was very rude and said, "Don't come in if you don't want to eat it. This is sea bass and asked me to pay, my God!" Is this Portugal? Fortunately, I took pictures. I must say that whoever goes to this restaurant will be unlucky and must report it to the health department to have...

Restaurante a não voltar! Comecemos pelo espaço, sujo... Tudo o que estava em cima da mesa estava colado!!! Copos, talheres, pratos.. pedimos um bife de atum e uma dourada acompanhados de batata cozida e batata a murro... Não se aproveitou nada! O peixe vinha seco, fizemos a observação que o peixe não era fresco e que garantidamente não foi grelhado no carvão, observação esta que recebemos imediatamente uma má cara e que não nós é que estávamos enganados foi tudo muito bem feito... Posto isto, a diferença entre as batatas as murro e as cozinhas era..... Nada?! As a murro trouxeram azeite na travessa! Faz toda a diferença! Pedimos sangria branca, nem um copo bebemos... Enquanto tentamos comer alguma coisa chegaram um grupo de turistas que pediram umas bebidas que não identificàmos mas tal não é o nosso espanto quando o dono da casa depois de os receber de cigarro nas mãos se dá ao luxo de "empurrar" um bocadinho o gelo que saia ligeiramente por cima dos copos dos clientes para baixo(dentro da bebida)... Posto toda esta situação quisemos pagar e vir embora... Mas ficamos presos porque o dono não estava no estabelecimento,e nem a cozinheira nem a outra rapariga que lá trabalha poderia nos dar a conta.... Pedi o livro de reclamações, o qual me foi negado porque o dono não estava... Resumindo o dono ia demorar pelo telefone para não dar o livro de reclamações ainda nos perguntou o que queriamos pagar... Decididamente se houverem boas críticas só podem...
