The Den - Uma experiência à base de plantas — Restaurant in Oeiras

The Den specialises in vegan traditional Portuguese cuisine, which is something I'm very passionate about, so I was very excited to give them a try.

I can tell you that it did not disappoint. The starters we had were quintessential Portuguese snacks, and tasted amazing. For mains, the Alheira (a traditional Portuguese sausage) tasted exactly like the traditional version. I had the grilled "salmon" with mac n cheeze, because of course I did: I've been meaning to try the vegan salmon fillets I see in shops, and couldn't pass the opportunity to have it there, especially with a side of mac n cheeze really playing into my personal preferences.

For dessert I tried the traditional "Bolo de Bolacha", and it was incredible. We also tried the "Ovos Moles" Cheesecake (not pictured), which my family loved but I thought was a bit too sweet. The "egg custard" on the cheesecake was amazing though!

Overall, The Den is a great affordable option. If you love or want to try traditional Portuguese food, I couldn't recommend it more. I think it's also a particularly welcomed addition to the Lisbon vegan scene for those living close to Cascais or further away from the Lisbon city center, where most of vegan restaurants of this kind...

The food from this restaurant is amazing! They have "classic" meals, but in vegan version. I would say it is a wonderful choice for vegans missing some kitchen staples and also for omnivores, who usually complain, when something is "too vegan". What we ordered was always tasty. Carbonara, chicken madras, salmon, schnitzel, soup... everything was exceptional. We also had Mexican and American burger, cheesecake, churros, pastel de nata... We can't wait to taste the rest of their menu. At the moment I can't say anything about the ambience, because we have never been in the restaurant in person. My husband always orders via food delivery service, but we enjoy their thoughtful custom notes, that come with every single order. You can tell they really care and value you as a customer. Loved this restaurant. The service was great, the food is amazingly varied and delicious. It's always good to try new creative dishes, but I also liked that there were a lot of options of "confort food", kid-friendly. The "bolo de bolacha" was the best one I ever had. The "croquetes" and the fries-- basically anything fried was great, with the variety of sauces. Even being a simple dish it seemed like it was made with a lot of care and love.
