This was a bit of a flop.
I entered the place and thought it was very pretension. The waiter at the bar welcomed us and said for us to just chose a table and so we did. After 20min we had to signal the waiter to come over the table and he asked us what we wanted to order, but we didn’t have any menu yet. The waiter was lovely, very kindly apologised and brought over the menu. We asked the waiter if the cheese board would come with bread but he didn’t know, he only knew that it would come with breadsticks. We finally ordered a cheese board.
Have to admit it was huge, 4 full cheeses, 1 sample pot of jam and another with honey, 5 breadsticks (thin ones) and 4 cheese crackers. Obviously we had more cheese than bread. We finish the bread and we asked another waiter if he could bring some bread which he mentioned that they don’t have (which is odd in Portugal) but he could bring more cheese crackers, which we agreed. Since no one came, about 10/15min later we called the other waiter that had been looking over the table to bring said crackers. After 20 min or so my friend got up and went to the bar and brought herself the crackers. This time they were more than the first time, which doesn’t show consistency at all.
The waiter apologised but nothing was made to try to...
Read moreDeeply disappointing! We just had lunch at Verso Rooftop. And although our sweet and smiley waitress said "até a próxima" that is not going to happen, unless she changes her job.
The space has huge potential, but falls awfully short of delivering upon it. Our food - one of each of the three types of burgers, was bland, boring and hardly warm, when it arrived. The 7 € starter consisted of a little bowl of a mashed avocado with some chunks of red onion, masquerading as the most uninspiring, flavourless guacamole ever. Oh, and some off brand nachos straight from the bag. The chips accompanying the burgers were almost bitter, suggesting that the frying oil was long overdue for a change.
The staff seem unmotivated, and although it's impossible to blame them, if that is the case, taking at least 15 minutes to serve us two cokes and a lemonade is simply not good enough. We had eaten all of the nachos and could really have used something to wash them down with.
The extra star given in the Staff category for our waitress, who at least had the courtesy, energy and the life blood to smile authentically.
Waste of space! Waste of money!...
Read moreWent at a time when the place was nearly empty. Nonetheless, everything took ages, from getting the menus to getting the food. Initially, they rudely said they didn't have our reservation, but I had a confirmation on my phone. We weren't allowed to sit under the parasol because there was a reservation that specifically asked for those. Ok, no problem. Well, the only problem is having a rooftop restaurant with only two small parasols during the super sunny and super hot Portuguese Summer months. Food was unmemorable and totally overpriced for what was served. Orange juice was sour, and when we complained, the waitress said the oranges were off season. It was July! Two kids at a nearby table also told their parents the orange juice tasted bad. Waitress with her huge nails, had a hard time placing/removing things from the table and seemed to be totally bored. Another waitress was chewing gum and blowing...
