Buongiorno Cucina e Mercato — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

Local, but the Chefe learned in Italia! I felt as if I was back in Florence! You will need reservations if your are visiting, or you will watch from the outside looking through the windows. The best Italia I have seen on this island. Kudos to the Chefe and staff. Sadly for me? When I find a small place like this? I eventually wait in line like you! Magnificent!

UPDATE -Sadly, we made reservations for a much desired 'date night'. Reservations great, service good, the MENU CHANGED to fast food Italian. The owner/chef? Nowhere to be seen. Some man we'd never seen prepared the food. No longer crowded or popular. Open seats at 20h00. Undercooked food. We are still ill 3 days later.

My score dropped to a 1. If I grow ill after a meal? I never return.

Shame on caving to " fast food service demands". You will close within the year. Sad changes. Poor menu changes. THIS? Cannot be repaired.

We went here because the reviews were excellent but this was an unfortunate mistake. The place is very quaint and has a lot of authentic Italian food, it is small but we went when it wasn’t busy so we got a table instantly.

The food was subpar. We love Italian food and have tried some excellent restaurants in London and also all throughout Italy in Tuscany, Venice, Rome, Florence and the Amalfi Coast. We ordered the pistachio focaccia which was burnt and when we asked to replace it was a bit awkward although they did replace it. The subsequent focaccia was very cold. We followed with a carbonara and the guanciale was crispy but the pasta wasn’t seasoned properly, and my wife had the truffle pasta which was very salty. It was one of our most expensive meal on the island which is on the whole very reasonably priced and we have tried everything from local tapas, Indian to Mexican cuisine.

Give it a miss, some of the previous reviews do indicate the place was better historically but has perhaps...

This is a very small establishment with limited seating but outstanding food. This was our anniversary dinner so we walked from our hotel down by the port and discovered they were expecting two large parties and would open at 7:00 pm instead of their usual 6:00 pm. This was not a problem for us and we found a small cafe nearby for coffee, tea and conversation until they were open. So make a reservation if you want to be sure of a seating. They did manage to fit us in but it could have gone either way.

The food was excellent, the service was excellent as well. The kitchen was very busy but worth the wait. This was the best meal we had...
