O Abrigo do Martinho — Restaurant in Portalegre

This place is AMAZING. The food was incredible, the land and sea skewer (last thing on the grilled section) was absolutely to die for. The steak was soft, tender, and it came with grilled pineapple with was beautiful. The sangria was lovely and my dad had the pork tenderloin with honey and cleared his plate.

The staff was lovely, Luis was our server, and despite not knowing much English made the biggest effort and even taught us a few words in Portuguese. He was great!!

Atmosphere was great even for a Wednesday evening. Mostly full tables but still amazing service.

Wish we could come back again, but we are at the end of our holiday. Might come back to Portalegre just for this...

It's a very friendly and nice place, the staff is attentive as well. The waiter seemed to be new, but still the experience was not affected by that. It wasn't very crowded when we went to have lunch so it was a very calm lunch. We had the soup of the day and pork steak with egg on top and was all very delicious and well cooked. The soup was magnificent, not to watery and not to pasty just perfect. The meal it self was served in clay dishes what was surprisingly pleasant to the eyes. The potatoes seemed home made so that's a very good sign...

Almoçamos neste Restaurante, fomos atendidos pelo Francisco, super gentil e simpático. O almoço foi uma descoberta de sabores, Lombinhos de Porco Preto em Mel e Mostarda, uma verdadeira iguaria bem assim como o Bacalhau à Martinho. O ambiente muito acolhedor e a cozinha saborosa levou-nos a repetir ao jantar. Chegamos sem reserva e fomos atendidos pelo Ricardo que não tinha mesa para nós, éramos 3, mas sem compromisso pediu para voltarmos um pouco mais tarde e disponibilizou o seu contacto direto. Meia hora mais tarde tínhamos mesa. Um jantar delicioso. Secretos de Porco Preto com migas de Coentros e Lombo de Novilho. Mais uma vez a simpatia de quem sabe.
