Bamboo Garden — Restaurant in Portimão

Utterly disgraceful experience – avoid at all costs.

From start to finish, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever endured. The service was negligent, the food was appalling, and the overall atmosphere reeked of indifference and disorganization.

We were a party of six, all in our twenties, yet the staff made it blatantly clear that our presence was not a priority. Despite being seated well before other tables, we were continuously overlooked in favor of older patrons, which was both insulting and unprofessional.

When we finally managed to place our order, the problems only escalated. Two of our group ordered the satay chicken starter, traditionally served with a rich, flavorful peanut-based sauce. What we received, however, was chicken skewers smeared with what was unmistakably store-bought peanut butter – directly from the jar. The presentation was revolting, the taste worse, and when we questioned the server, we were met not with an apology, but with the dismissive statement, “That is our satay chicken.”

Understandably appalled, we requested these be taken off the bill, which they eventually did, but the damage was done – our appetites were ruined.

Unfortunately, the mains offered no redemption. Every dish was either incorrectly prepared or completely inedible. Not a single plate at our table was finished. The service remained inattentive and lacking in the most basic standards of hospitality.

I don’t write reviews normally but the food ordered tonight was no where near what other reviews have shared. 4/5 stars?! No way!! Just ordered a takeout from here (deep fried ribs, sweet and sour chicken, aromatic duck and pancakes, egg fried rice and chips) and was really disappointed with the food. 😔 It was very bland, mushy, the shredded duck had bones all through it (never had duck with small sharp bones through it - and we were sharing it with our two year old! 😡) the chips weren’t cooked and the rice wasn’t fried at all - it was boiled with a few sorry looking pieces of egg through it with some peas. we were visiting Portimão for a few hours and decided to have dinner at this restaurant based on reviews. We had Chicken Satay as (simple) starter that was nice. Unfortunately both main dishes, pineapple chicken pan-fry and sweet and sour deep fried chicken tasted like a cheap takeaway, sauces were identical they just added pineapple. sweet & sour chicken had the worst presentation that I've seen in my life. just balls of fried chicken on flat plate in tiny sauce with 3 pieces of onion in it.
