During our trip to Portimao, we decided to take a boat tour to see the Benagil caves. When we got to the marina, the Royal Nautic kiosk was one of the first we passed, and the woman working there was very welcoming - she let us know a boat would be leaving shortly, and there was room for us. They even held it long enough for us to make a "pit stop" before heading to the dock. Bruno was our captain, and Jose his mate - they were very helpful, assisting my husband (who was on crutches) to get in and situated (and later, to exit). They both spoke English well, and told us anecdotes about the things we were seeing. Captain Bruno was masterful in his handling of the boat - we got very close to the walls several times, to get good looks, and I was worried the waves might push us into the wall, but he always steered us true. After following the cliffs closely on the way out, they gave us the option to head out to sea a bit, and open the throttle on the way back - it was exhilarating. And lastly, and a big thumbs-up on their "green" sense... on our race back, they spotted a balloon that had landed in the water, so they cut speed, pulled up alongside, and retrieved it. We would 100% recommend these guys to anyone wanting to see the Benagil caves (who isn't looking to...

I forgot my phone in another company's boat which was tied to the same pier as one of the Royal Nautic's boats. I kindly asked 3 employees of Royal Nautic to let me into the pier so that I can look for my phone. They told me that they can't let me in and that they would call the security if I tried to get in.

My wife and I finally were let in by our boat company's representative and found my phone. Upon leaving, we told these 3 employees that they could have been more helpful to tourists. They were not willing to get feedback and they told us to "go back to our country." When we were far away, they were yelling profanity behind our backs.

These people are in the hospitality business in a very popular tourist spot during the peak season. It's obvious that they were not trained to be client-facing and that this company's culture allows for such rude, racist, sexist behavior.
