Pizzeria Pepperino — Restaurant in Portimão

Booked here for the first night because it used to be our favourite Italian spot. We had specifically reserved the balcony as it was a special occasion. The balcony was full when we arrived and the waiter shrugged us off and sent us up with another waiter. They didn’t make any attempt to make our seats available even though a family had just sit down in front of us. It was only when we brought it up they said we had to come back in an hour so we had to wait an extra hour. They told us it was because they booked us into the Lagos restaurant instead by accident. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and booked again when my boyfriend arrived a week later. Unfortunately, they had again taken up the full balcony and they took a table away from two ladies sat next to us which was awkward for the whole meal because we were so close. Service was fast, but nobody asked how the food was and as I said the first time, the older gentleman who first spoke to us was extremely rude and dismissive. The food was not hot, and nothing was wowing. My boyfriend ordered the mediterranean salad which boasted lots of veg but when it came it was mainly mushrooms (which wasn’t on the menu description) and also he cannot eat them. My seafood pasta had 3 prawns and was bland. This is honestly such a shame because for a restaurant that used to be so bold with flavour and great service, it seems they have fallen victim to the chain...

Visited as we were after a proper wood fired pizza and it didn't disappoint.

We were looking at Pepperino prior to our trip and looked forward to visiting. The restaurant is very clean and the team there were super welcoming. Great selection of pizza and pasta and the oven looked amazing at the back of the restaurant.

We were seated on the first floor, our drink and food order was taken quickly and the food appears just as quick!

The pizza's were amazing, well worth the visit to Alvor. After we had some ice cream which is made in house and was the perfect way to round off the meal.

I ordered the seafood pasta and was told there was no seafood then all of a sudden the seafood was available, I found that strange. Pasta was extremely salty but the waiter sorted it out for me. The fried seafood was salty too but otherwise nice. The pizza was nice, my husband also ordered pesto pasta but both pastas was a little over done. The waiters were happy to rectify everything but I was too hungry to send anything back. The tiramisu was nice but could've had more coffee on the biscuits.
