This is the review based on our 14 day visit of Madeira and 14 day of eating in this restaurant. Even 5 stars is too low rating for the quality and atmosphere you will receive in return.
This is family run business where you will feel like at home in first 5 minutes. We have eat here for 14 days approximately. The food is top of the class honestly. The Espetada here is heaven on the earth. I guarantee you will not find better place for it on the island ( and we have tried like 11 restaurant within the whole island). Sandwich is out of the world, the portion is enough for two people and the taste is phenomenal. It’s really difficult to describe the feeling you have during the visit but I strongly recommend you to visit the place and taste the food prepared here with passion and love. Wherever you have an accommodation, whatever is your plan for the day, pay a visit in this family restaurant and you will not regret it. The cherry on the cake is the price for everything. It’s hard to believe the first time you’ll get the check. Read moreThey do not have a menu, had to resort to Google translator for asking for stuff with limited dish choice, they do not do vegetable, sweet potatoes or fried corn cubes with meals or even to order as a side dish. Some only on weekends. Dish of the day(roast chicken) and main of fish ( fillet de espada) with rice and banana were too dry to make for a juicy meal. A wedge of lime and sauted mushrooms or onions with some gravy would have been good accompaniment to make the meal palatable. Cocktail of the day in the picture also not available. I decided to go back because of exceptionally flavoursome potatoes chips with the skin on with sprinkling of herbs they do and from what I could could see hardly any oil on them, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Their beef piccada done with mushrooms, olives and delicious creamy sauce with fresh tomatoe wedges was very satisfying. Their dish of the day of lazania with salad was exceptional where the pasta was Al Dante and the mince in between the layers was perfectly done with still a bit to eat and not overloaded with tomatoe sauce or too much of cheese sauce.
