Amarena Fast Food & Cake — Restaurant in Santa Cruz

"Fast food and cake" is for me a wrong definition. A very recommendable small restaurant with a friendly staff. Especially the boss is a nice guy. He doesn't speak much English, but he explains the composition of the meals patient in a very friendly way - in Portuguese :-). We didin't feel only as tourists, but as guests. The selection of meals is not inextricable as in some other restaurants nearby, but enough to visit Amarena more than one time during the holiday. And the portions are large enough for "normal-eaters"...

Not sure how this place is rated so highly, it's overpriced, 'fast microwaved' food. You will pay double as much here as anywhere else in Madeira. 4 EUR for a cappuccino is outrageous. Also ordered a prego, at the end got charged 2 EUR more, bill showing a burger which was never ordered. Prego already expensive at the price for the quality you get, microwaved bread which dries out quickly after it cools down and super chewy meat. Ambience - it's the same song playing...

Run by a lovely man who is very friendly. We were staying at sentido galosol and got food a few times here to bring back to the hotel. I got some cheesecake one day, a tuna wrap the next, and fries too! Food was great and...
