Great pricing, food and a view. We parked underneath the restaurant. It’s across the street from the traditional Madeiran houses. We started with the vegetable soup that wasn’t fully puréed! It was delicious. The garlic bolo do caco was delicious. I ordered a side of boiled veggies (broccoli, zucchini, carrots) and a side salad. The small portion of meat with sauce was plenty for two people to share. We chose fries for our side. The have Coral Banana beer! I highly recommend this place.

Not only it is much better priced than what you find in Funchal, but it also has much better quality food and amazingly friendly service. I didn’t expect anything from this place because it looks quit humble, but the chef is a freaking genius. My tomato soup was thick, tasty and rich in flavor, and espetada was cooked to perfection — ideal medium rare meat to enjoy. Highly recommend.

I had a tomato soupe served with an egg as a starter and an espetada (grilled beef) as a main course. The food was absolutely amazing. I didn’t expect anything from this place because it looks quit humble, but the chef is a freaking genius. My tomato soup was thick, tasty and rich in flavor, and espetada was cooked to perfection — ideal medium rare meat to enjoy. Highly recommend.

Restaurantbewertung – Ein Abend zwischen Hoffen und Zittern

Meine Reise in dieses Restaurant begann mit einer Erwartung, die schneller zerplatzte als ein überhitzter Pfannkuchen. Auf der Karte prangte das T-Bone-Steak, ein Gericht, das meine Sehnsüchte in den höchsten kulinarischen Sphären heben sollte. Doch die Enttäuschung war sofort spürbar: Das Steak war ausverkauft. Keine Panik, denke ich mir – ich entscheide mich für das Rinderkotelett, das ebenfalls auf der Speisekarte glänzte. Doch auch dieses war nicht verfügbar. Nach dieser zweifachen Niederlage blieb mir nur die Wahl, mich mit einer dritten Option abzufinden, die weniger glänzend, aber immerhin existierte.

Die Getränkebestellung – ein weiteres Kapitel in dieser Tragödie – benötigte sage und schreibe 5:30 Minuten, um den Tisch zu erreichen. Während ich darauf wartete, meine Kehle zu befeuchten, warf ich einen Blick in den Raum. Die Tür stand weit offen, der Raum war kühl, und der ständige Luftzug zwang mich, meine Jacke anzubehalten. Der Gedanke, mich dem Ambiente hinzugeben, wich der Frage, wie ich mich in einem Restaurant entspannen sollte, in dem das Wetter sich ständig einmischte.

Die Vorspeise, ein "Bolo do Caco", ließ mich mit vorsichtigen Erwartungen zurück. Nach 15 Minuten war sie endlich da – und ich muss sagen, sie war gelungen. Ein kleiner Lichtblick in dieser von Dunkelheit durchzogenen Zeit. Doch das Schicksal hatte noch mehr Prüfungen für mich: Die Lapas kamen nach 20 Minuten – also nur 5 Minuten nach dem Bolo do Caco. Leider waren sie nicht nur sandig, sondern auch kalt. Kein Zischen von heißem Öl, keine dampfende Magie – nur der dumpfe Klang von enttäuschten Erwartungen.

Nun, zur Hauptspeise: Nach 40 Minuten kam das Gericht, aber der letzte meiner Begleiter musste gar 45 Minuten darauf warten. Die Zeit verging wie ein unaufhaltsames Pendel, das uns immer weiter in die Ungewissheit trieb. Das Fleisch, das ich bestellte, war von akzeptabler Qualität, und der Reis konnte sich durchaus sehen lassen. Aber dann: Die Pommes – oh, die Pommes! Matschig, ölig, triefend vor einem Fett, das uns sowohl kulinarisch als auch emotional erschöpfte.

Ein weiterer Punkt, den ich nicht unerwähnt lassen möchte: Die Preise. Sie sind durchaus in Ordnung, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass dieses Restaurant eher einem Bistro als einem richtigen Restaurant gleicht. Es fühlt sich fast wie eine Art Touristenfalle an, in der man nicht viel erwarten sollte – außer vielleicht, dass man satt wird.

Insgesamt kann ich sagen, dass dieses Restaurant ein wahrer Nervenkitzel war – aber nicht im positiven Sinne. Ein ständiges Auf und Ab zwischen guten Momenten und bitteren Enttäuschungen. Vielleicht war dies ein schlechter Abend, vielleicht aber auch ein Zeichen, dass dieses Etablissement noch einen langen Weg vor sich hat. Ich werde ihm vielleicht noch eine Chance geben – aber nicht ohne die Hoffnung, dass das nächste Mal das Menü, die Temperatur und die Pommes mehr Glück...

Wow !!! For a small cafe this has to be the best grub ever. The steak is the best ive ever had, and I've eaten in some top notch restaurants but this place beats them hands down.

Ate there yesterday, Friday. Great service, presentation, huge portions, flavoursome and filling and reasonably priced too .

The two waitresses where lovely, basic to no English, but hey, I'm just passing through thier home.

Oh, the sandwich, its a huge meal in a loaf and the capuchino the best ive ever...
