PLEASE READ MY REVIEW BEFORE YOU GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. If you want to eat real food, you must avoid this place!! I am not a review person but I have to do this one. We came here for lunch time, ordered a margherita pizza and one baked chicken. We spotted immediately that they used frozen pizza which you can buy from supermarket. And the ridiculous thing was that we waited more than half an hour for the meal!! I even had to ask the staff how long it was going to take ? A frozen pizza needed 30 mins to make? I couldn't believe it. The food was absolutely rubbish, as you can see the Pictures, the pizza was so hard and it tasted so disgusting. The chicken was so hard as well. They sell a margherita for €7.50 which is a robbery, for a FROZEN PIZZA. The restaurant should put a sign saying they sell FROZEN PIZZA inside. I know it's a tourist spot and you probably won't meet all these customers again, but at least have some standards!! If you ever come to Santana, you should never considered this restaurant to eat.

We stopped here for food after coming down from the Pico do Arieiro on a cold and rainy day. What a lovely place, wonderful staff, and good food. One would expect mediocrity from a place with multilingual menus, but you can enjoy comfort food for very very fair prices. Attention to detail makes the experience even sweeter, like the skewers for the meat was an actual stick (not some industrial wooden skewer), and you could fully enjoy the charcoal grilled meat. The staff was accommodating about everything and flexible about the sides. Very fast and friendly service. Also nice desserts (very generous slices of cake!). Clean toilets. Definitely a recommendation.

10/10 if I could rate it more I would. This has been by far the best meal I’ve had in Madeira and Portugal mainland too. Authentic espetada using laurel (bay) wood which is hard to find! We also ordered the soup of the day called sopa de trigo which takes a while to make and I haven’t seen it in any other restaurant, lapas, and bacalhau com natas. Honestly so delicious! Highly recommend! I forgot to take a photo of the lapas when it came out so there was only one left in the photo but it was a full pan. There was also the traditional bolo da caco (garlic bread) and olives which I didn’t take a photo of.

avoid this place. really rude staff. when i wanted to ask for the check they told me to wait. and after 10 minutes i wawe at the waitress again and she says she will come. after another 5 minutes i stand up and go to the cash register to pay. and all the waiters were welcoming new clients and keep taking orders and bringing food, but in the same time they kept ignoring me.! after standing so long, a client literally said to the waitress to take my request first and take her order after. how is this level of rudeness even possible at a restaurant? what’s the point on keeping the business going? there are definitely many other places in santana happy to...
