⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Taste of Portugal From the moment you step through the door, this restaurant wraps you in the warm embrace of true Portuguese hospitality. The air is rich with the aroma of Ribatejo cuisine. Nestled on Rua Pedro de Santarém, the tavern’s interior is a living mosaic of bullfighting posters and memorabilia—an homage to regional tradition. The décor strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and timeless elegance that tells quiet stories of history, posters that have heard decades of laughter, and a cozy atmosphere that makes every guest feel like family. The menu is a love letter to the portuguese cuisine, nothing short of a masterpiece. Each dish is seasoned not only with herbs and spices, but with heritage. Portions are generous—just like the smiles from the staff—and every bite carries the unmistakable flavor of local pride. The pace is unhurried here, as it should be—because this isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. It’s where time slows down, conversation flows as freely as the wine, and each plate is a small celebration of Portuguese life. In short: If you want to taste Portugal in its purest, most heartfelt form, this is the place. Come hungry. Leave happy. Return often. Thank you to the Maestro Fernando for taking care of me and my family! See you soon my...
Read moreDidn't get to taste the food. Called to make reservations at 10:30am for 12:30 on a weekday. A lady answered I was informed that it was too early to make a reservation I would have to call back. However 12:30 is early and we shouldn't have a problem. I did not call again and took the chance and went. I arrived before 12:30 and entered the restaurant not soul sitting down for lunch yet. The place is small there was a gentleman at the counter on the phone talking about 5 feet away from me who never looked up, after a few minutes I think there might have been a waiter who came over and asked if we had reservations. I explained what my conversation was when I called to make reservations. I was informed that they could not accommodate us without a reservation in a dry tone. My disappointment must have shown he directed his look to the man who had been on the phone and said he's in charge maybe he can do something. WELL the man in charge hardly looked up and commented to the person speaking to us "you already told them how it is there is nothing I can do" the tone of voice and rudeness was unbelievable. So I won't be going back. Note to the man in charge,it doesn't take much to smile say thank you and I'm sorry. Eccepted of course that I couldn't be accommodated however I will never accept rudeness and...
Read moreA very old well established restaurant where the management runs a couple more restaurants in Santarem. The theme is bull fighting and the location is close to the Santarem bullfighting arena. This is a restaurant that was the first one we had dinner in when we came to the region a couple of years ago, The experience so good that we have been back many many times.
As with any popular place reserving a table is smart otherwise you might have to accept waiting. The restaurant is not very big and often filled to capacity, you will be dining close to a lot of other guests and this adds to the experience. Good food , good atmosphere, nice personell and they can serve you excellent wine. Our experience is that you can find cheaper restaurants but all in all not a very expensive place to have a really nice dinner! A bit of a warning , if you do not like scenes from bull fighting or having a TV showing these events (from Spanish television) ask for seating in a small...
