Dining at Mayagi in Seixal was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to the bustling streets of Southeast Asia. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a flavor explosion, perfectly capturing the essence of the region’s cuisine.
The ambiance at Mayagi was incredible, with vibrant decorations that made the place feel alive and inviting. It’s like stepping into another world, where every detail—from the colorful lanterns to the intricate wall art—tells a story.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the house music. It was loud and energetic, yet somehow perfectly balanced so we could still chat comfortably. The music added an exciting, dynamic vibe to the restaurant, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
Mayagi isn’t just about food; it’s about providing a full sensory experience. They bring in the flavors, smells, and sounds of Southeast Asia to create something truly special.
I can’t recommend Mayagi enough. It’s a must-visit if you want to experience the most vibrant and authentic Asian street scene in Portugal. Make sure to reserve your spot, you...
Read moreIt was without doubt the worst food I've eaten in Portugal for years. Takoyakis: made without any seasoning, tasted like a mealy bitter dust with small hard pieces of octopus Bao Porco: the meat was very tough, hard to chew and tasteless. Bao was the worst I have ever tasted. Cheap restaurants in Setubal serve much better. How you can screw up Bao?? Teryiaki Soba: this dish is some kind of a joke! Burnt, dry, no dominant flavour with very poor quality prawns (at least they were deveined) and disgusting chicken Miso Pork Ramen: tasted like bucket water - bland, with no salty miso or sweet tare flavour, but with some rotten/sour aftertaste. The pork was nightmarishly tough, completely unseasoned. The marinated egg was obviously dry and tasteless.
In summary: dishes were bitter, under seasoned, lacking in asian flavours and with very poor ingredients. Nothing was right: texture, freshness or enjoyment of the food. For any money this...

This place doesn't feel pretentious in any way, and it's certainly not aiming for the gourmet experience. Instead what they've created is an amazing cool space, were you can enjoy the delicacies of asian street food, in a totally casual and relaxed environment, without worrying much about the price.
The dim light and colourful neons set the theme, immediately reminiscing you of Tokyo's alleys by night. The exposed brick walls and wood furniture make you feel warm and cozy throughout the meal, while the asian culture memorabilia, including the unforgettable stencil of Karate Kid's infamous Mr. Miyagi, fires up all that '80s nostalgia.
I was a bit sceptical because I spotted this place on Instagram, but this time, it paid off. I want to go back to try more items from the menu, and will definitely be bringing...
