The best Fish I've ever eaten in my life. I had the ESPADARTE, Swordfish in English. No bones, just super flavour meaty fish. Which was cooked to perfection, on a real coals BBQ . Soooo good... I'd even go as far as saying it's the nicest fish I've ever had in my life. An I've eaten fish from different restaurants all over the world. This was world class, really.. We had Big Large prawns followed by cheese with Portuguese bread for our starter, super tasty also... yum yum. Get to this restaurant early, because there are ques all the way up the street, to eat here. We got here as it opened for lunch, as we walked by from the beach back to our air b'n'b. My wife is Portuguese and fancied some fresh fish for lunch, we found this place by chance. And I can assure you its the best, simple, super delicious, super tasty no frills fresh from the sea yummy fish. And the price is so fair. My wife says the polvo, octopus salad she had was incredible. I choose the succulent Swordfish, it was a big portion, it was served with tomato, lettuce an onion salad and new potatoes, in salad dressing. Really really good, The Fish was expertly cooked. Delicious 😋, cooked on open coals. So much flavour... It really was TOP OF THE RANGE FISH The best I've ever had, Ever... Highly recommend by us. It's made our holiday so memorable.. We're coming here to eat every day until we leave sesimbra next week. THE BEST FISH EVER... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... 10 out of 10... You'll love...
Read moreYou may fancy a seaside restaurant boasting a glamorous balcony, dressed up waiters and a stylish ambiance. You may. But when it comes to fresh fish, the real deal is seldom paired with the chic thrill. The freshest fish, grilled on the spot, in plain sight (and smell), calls for a down to earth, folk feel.
Tasca do Isaías offers the genuine fish tavern experience, rough around the edges and neglecting any kind of glam. It is, indeed, all about the fish and authenticity in every aspect of Portuguese eatery culture.
You may find the staff a little crude and the dining room somewhat cramped and overly simplistic, but that's all part of the game. You will get your food on metal platters without any garnish besides genuineness. Sea salt is the only seasoning needed for fish-wise perfection, together with boiled potatoes and salad as side dishes. That will be all you will need for a memorable meal. Various types of fish will be available, and occasionally some meat. I would surely praise the swordfish, which you won't easily find elsewhere this fresh.
I reckon Tasca do Isaías is not for everyone, but it sets its own standard. Definitely a place the late Anthony Bourdain would visit and tell the...
Read moreI love places that just deliver. In Tasca do Isaías, what you see is what you get. They aren’t pretending to be a finer restaurant, they are a Tasca and they embrace it to the core. The experience starts by leaving your name in a small sheet of paper and patiently waiting in the street, hoping the next name they call is you. There are a lot of people waiting everyday, you can tell the place has regulars as well as hungry tourists waiting to be seated. You choose the food just before your name is called to be seated, so it starts to be prepared by their team. As soon as you sit, craving the fish you stare at while you are waiting, your eating journey just rolls fast from beginning to the end. Everything we had, was great. Amêijoas, Dourada, Seabass. The fish is perfectly grilled in charcoal and delicious. I wish I would have some photos to post but, I think I didn’t stop eating as soon as I seated, till we left. Show up before 8pm, and be a little patient, it is worth it....
