Casa das Tortas — Restaurant in Setúbal

Went to this Restaurant many times a few years ago before Covid and couldn´t fault it but we went again recently and it is now absolute rubbish. We waited at least 1/2 hour to be served our meal and when it arrived (bifanas and chips) it was cold. The chips were actually freezing and the server disappeared before we could send them back. The service was terrible and when we got the bill what a shock, 21 euros for two bifanas, one small batch of chips in a paper wrap, one draft beer and two glasses of house wine. I think we were robbed, I have never paid much more than 10 euros for a meal like this. Will definitely not go back. We live in Azeitáo but I think they thought we were tourists, so...

This restaurant is truly the heart of the town of Azeitao. This is where locals go to meet other locals. It is also the first place the tourists see in the center of town. Next to the central plaza with the strange, giant, grape bunch, all Roads lead to this place. It has a restaurant and a sort of café. Both are excellent. Often places like this have second rate food but this is not the case. Pick an amazing meat or fish and it will be cooked for you on the spot. But if they have one of the Portuguese specials definitely take advantage. it could be your Portuguese grandmother cooking. If you had a Portuguese grandmother. Not to be missed! This place is so bad. I'm serious. We had to send our meat/escalopes back twice because it wasn't well done, which we have requested. Once it came back the second time it was still red. If I can give this place 0 stars I will. The waiters were awesome though. The people who grill the meat, specially the bald guy with a beard is so rude. He shouldn't even work there. We had a bad experience and I will never come back to this terrible place in my life. I wish I could post pictures of the meat being 'well done'...
