We had a party of 12 eating here. We had to keep our coats on as the place was cold. My mate jokingly complained about it and the waiter retorted that he was sweating. I suggested that my mate could clear up a few plates to keep warm. I noted that the food was very pricey for what it was and the house wine was 13.50 Euros a bottle. When the cover plate arrived I burst into involuntary laughter. A few bits of stale bread in the basket and a few sliced carrots. Three cartons of butter for four people. Surely this was a joke? Service was uncoordinated. Waiters leaned over guests to dump the food on the table. The food came at variable times. One of us waited an hour for his main whilst the rest of us ate. My cod loin ? and roasted potatoes was tasty enough but at 16.50 Eu way overpriced. Across from me a couple had a sea food platter, all claws and shells and crunchy bits. They struggled to eat it with fingers. When nearly finished the waiter remembered to bring the proper tools to get into the various hard shells and crab claws.
Oh how I longed for some Wetherspoon fish'n chips whilst I sat there.
PS One of our party did complain about the cover apparently (which they did not charge us for) it was the last night of the season and they were giving us the remnants. - so that's...
Read moreMy family and I dined at this restaurant last night. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. The restaurant has an amazing sea view with ample free parking. I had scallops to start, which were beautifully cooked, while my wife had prawn cocktail, which was equally as good. For our mains, I had the monkfish, which was really good. However, I felt the accompanying cauliflower, which I'm not a fan of anyway, didn't do anything to compliment the beautiful fish. The potato gratin was also a little disappointing as it again was a little bland. However, the dish was good, but I felt it was missing that something special. My wife had the duck, which was fantastic. Nicely cooked, well presented, and had a beautiful sweet potato mash, which really worked well. My daughter had the dish of the evening, which was a brilliantly cooked steak. It was perfect. So tender and beautifully seasoned with an amazing mushroom sauce. She devoured it. The desserts were huge but tasted amazing. We had ice cream, pavlova, and tiramisu. We all enjoyed them, but couldn't finish them as the portions were too big. Overall, it was a very enjoyable dining experience and I would recommend this restaurant, even though it was a little expensive but we felt it...
Read moreWe loved this place!! We’re so glad that we chose Olivalmar to meet friends coming from Spain, as we truly had a wonderful evening together. Our table had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean, with lots of spacious parking spots. The restaurant itself is quiet and sophisticated and has that fine dining atmosphere. The staff are also very friendly and provide great services!
We had the “silver” seafood platter which has Oysters, Mussels, Boiled Prawns and Crab—everything tasted so fresh and the sauces were so delicious. The Octopus confit with smoked Sausages Polenta and Pepper Coulis was tender, the Sautéed Scallops with Apple Pickle and Lemon Gel is perfectly cooked, and Razor Clams in Bulhão Pato style is succulent and sweet. We also ordered the octopus with mussels and shrimp cataplana, and the portion size was very generous, great for 5 people, and the waiter distributed each plate with equal amount of octopus, mussels and shrimp. When we finished the meal, the sunset glow gave such a wonderful ambiance, with great food, old friends reunited, and pleasant conversation. It made the whole dinning experience more memorable. Highly recommend this...
