We live in the area and always wanted to go here to try the sardines. Although we had already lunched elsewhere, we decided to go in at 3:00 pm to share a plate of sardines. The matre’d set the tone by constantly frowning at us and querying every aspect our order, even though I explained that we had already lunched , and just wanted to try the sardines. (We ordered olives , one plate of sardines ( to share), a side salad and 2 mojitos. I went to wash my hands and the hand dryers did not work in either the men’s or ladies. I was unable to find any paper or loo roll in the 3 cubicles, so had to dry my hands on my dress. Our mojitos were too syrupy, so I had to call the matre’d away from her vaping, to order water; it didn’t come. When the food arrived, I ordered water again; it didn’t come. (Matre’d still vaping on front porch and I have nothing to drink yet). By this time I needed oil and vinegar, which hadn’t been provided. I went into their service area and helped myself, asking “Don’t you have any water?” Helping myself to oil and vinegar. The service was the most unfriendly appalling service that I have been subject to in Portugal in 5 years of coming and living here. No wonder all the locals say not to go here. To add insult to injury, the matre’d said that we didn’t have to pay, but then she left without telling anybody, so we did have to pay; €40.00, with coffee. Needless to say, we will attend our usual...

Sardinha Assada Restaurante offers an absolutely stunning 5-star experience when it comes to the view, ambiance, and service. Nestled in a beautiful spot, the atmosphere is truly captivating, making for a memorable evening out. The staff were attentive and friendly, contributing to a wonderfully relaxed and enjoyable setting.
However, the food was a bit of a mixed bag, bringing the overall experience for a 3.5-star food rating. The steak was just okay, lacking a certain memorable quality, and the scallops were similarly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they didn't really stand out either. On the flip side, the prawns were truly excellent – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, making them a definite highlight. The drinks were also fantastic, crafted with care and a great complement to the beautiful surroundings.
In summary, if you're looking for an incredible setting with top-notch service and delicious prawns and drinks, Sardinha Assada is definitely worth a visit. Just manage your expectations for some of the other main dishes and focus on soaking in that...
Read moreNo complaints whatsoever, loved it. Ate here twice with my girlfriend on our vacation.
On the second date, we dropped in fairly late in the evening and the kitchen was already winding down. To our surprise, we were offered 1 or 2 fish of our choice anyhow, after the waitress (on her own initiative) talked to the kitchen staff. We both picked swordfish, and got an enormous grilled slice with skin on it served with delicious potatoes (in the skin) and grilled courgette. All the fish is from the local markets and can also be bought fresh from the restaurant itself.
Not only was it very affordable, the staff are super friendly without being pushy. Just keep in mind that it can take a little while to get served, that's how things work in Portugal. The sea view speaks for itself, and so do the cocktails.
Absolutely...
