La Carnucha Restaurant — Restaurant in Sintra

This was hands-down the best meal we had in Portugal! This isn't a touristy area so it's unlikely to see a lot of foot-traffic from visitors, however if you're checking out the Queluz National Palace (Palácio Nacional de Queluz), it's just a 9-minute Uber or taxi here and totally worth it. We got the Picanha beef for two, which is all-you-can-eat (I think anyway, they kept asking us if we wanted more and kept bringing it out). The beef is so fresh and tender, the beans so flavorful, and even the fries (which I normally don't order because fries are boring) were tasty. It also comes with a fresh pico de gallo-style salsa which goes perfectly with the beef, rice and beans.

Note: They don't currently accept Visa as payment, so bring a Mastercard or cash. We had neither so we were able to pay them through PayPal which was fine! Definitely worth a trip. Get the Sangria too, lots of fresh fruit (including lingon berries and fresh raspberries which was a treat)....

Super loud due to accepting huge groups in a small space (about 30 to 40 people In what it seems like a birthday party) the food was ok but nothing out of this world, meat was good but the rice was quite dry. They didn't open right at the scheduled time but nothing too serious. Our table sucked as it was in a rather inconvenient place, but the main issue was that huge group, too much noise I couldn't even hear my family speaking and on top of that they just bumped into our place multiple times, they should not allow those huge groups unless they just close the place and not accept other reservations, otherwise the rest of the people there will have a bad time...

The service and food were excellent. We ordered starters for our table of the shrimp in garlic sauce along tuna spread, green olives with bread. The main course was picanya beef with sides of steamed rice, French fries, fresh salsa and seasoning. Our party of 4 had generous servings of the picanya beef and overall a delicious meal. We chose cheesecake, lemon torte, and chocolate mousse. For dessert. The meal was fantastic. As a note for travelers outside of Europe please be prepared to use cash as debit card reader does not ‘view’ debit cards outside...
