Cultura Mediteranica — Restaurant in Tavira

We walked along the road and saw several restaurants, some quite packed others almost empty. As we looked at two different restaurant menus both waiters tried to convince us to eat with them. Some restaurants serve mainly octopus which I like but not my wife so we went with Cultura M. The staff was nice, atmosphere was ok. We had shrimp in oil with garlic. How wrong can you go with such a basic dish. Well the shrimp seemed to come from a frozen bag, and the oil was lukewarm and missed spices or at least garlic flavor. My wife had a steak and I had a shrimp omelete. I wanted to safe my appetite for this evening. The steak was medium in taste and it appeared to have been cut the wrong way was quite chewy. My omelete had just a few shrimps in it. It was disappointing for us, I would try a different restaurant on the street. I think I could not even bother taking photos...

First time and last time! We were waiting 2 hours for the food, tables who arrived after us were served all courses before us, waiters disorganized and couldnt tell us what happened. On several ocassions we had fo go to the bar to ask again for our drinks because they lost the order. Eventually when the food arrived, it was not even average, very dry, we had tuna, cod, shrimps, all dry, only octopus was nice. At the end owner gave us attitude that thats normal in Portugal and why do I have any other expectations. Unprofessional behaviour! Very...

Stumbled in for dinner. Nice welcome and very lively waiter! The atmosphere on the terrace would be nice, inside it’s a bit more bistro like. The recommended octopus salad was good, the vegetarian pasta and omelette on the other hand below average. We also got served fries to the pasta (the waiter sold it to us as a typical Portugese habit [nice selling technique]) and the couvert (dry bread and olives) which showed on the bill, for a pricey dinner considering the quality with little packages of olive oil, salt and pepper and butter, again...
