Casa Capela — Restaurant in Terras de Bouro

Lunchtime on 4th May 2022. Not every table seem to get the same bread basket, ours was just basic with mostly pieces of dried bread which are good in soup and the rest was so ordinary that I just can't remember. The basket two tables away had a much better selection and considering there is a cost if you help yourself to bread, why should we have dried crackers? So that's the first disappointing impression over. Then come the usual couvert which I sworn to never touch, because of the cost usually applied. But we were hungry after our road travel and we just lashed for the ubiquitous small round cheese and the less than 10 slices of local chouriço. The later was well over 4 euros! We never touch the butter/paté and Queru that always come in those awful tiny plastic container and don't deserve to be served in restaurants where you end up having lunch for over 50 euros for 2! We had soup then 2 main courses (about 14 euros each), a couple of deserts, the quality was acceptable but nothing much done for presentation, nothing that we haven't seen in many restaurants in Portugal for much less money. We asked the bill which took a while to come, in fact I had to go to request it a second time at the bar where I wasn't particularly greeted with much smile. Always suspicious with the Couvert, I wanted to verify the details, it was expensive as previously quoted, we were also charged (as I thought we would) for the paté, butter and Queru which we never touched. The place was rather busy, mainly local builders and other workers. I just wonder how in Portugal, in a small town workers can afford lunch at this sort of price. For a similar meal including a cafezinho at our local restaurant with a nice setting, we pay just under 30 euros for 2 including a litre of house wine that is perfectly decent. We weren't going to renew our experience there for sure. We also talked to some Portuguese holiday makers on that same day, they all agreed prices in Gerês were pretty high for restaurants and the general feeling was that we were...

DISGUSTING FOOD

This was THE worst food I've ever had. A cheap horrible overcooked steak absolutely covered in cheap cheese with soggy soft chips. See the picture...It's a disgrace that the chef thinks it's acceptable to serve people food like this at such a high price.

Our bread also came with a a black curly hair stuck to it.

It was one of the more expensive meals we had from our two week tour of Northern Portugal. An absolute rip off. Terrible atmosphere inside the restaurant and sad dated decoration.

Péssimo, comida e serviço. Chegamos cerca das 19h50m. Dos poucos restaurantes na zona era o único com lugares disponíveis, tinham apenas 2 mesas ocupadas. Eramos 3 pessoas e indicaram-nos a mesa logo na entrada. Ao sentar percebemos que um de nós iria ficar ombro com ombro com a pessoa na mesa ao lado e pedimos para irmos para outra mesa. Colocaram a toalha de mesa de tecido, rasgada, e ficou mesmo assim. Serviram a o couvert, pão, chouriça e queijo e eram bons. No fundo do cesto do pão (bolinhas) encontrámos 2 pequenas fatias e meia de pão duro e seco. Perguntei se eram restos de pão e disseram ser torradas!! Não tinham aspecto disso mas enfim...fica o benefício da dúvida. Pedimos um bife à Gerês e espetadas de porco preto. O bife não vale o preço, coberto com fatias de queijo flamengo derretido e molho de tomate acompanhado de arroz. O sabor não era mau mas difícil de cortar e mastigar. As espetadas foram para trás para grelhar melhor pois vinham cruas (carne de porco). Voltaram ainda mal assadas e recusamos. Tínhamos pedido sangria que até era boa. Pedimos a conta, pagamos o que foi consumido (em parte) e pedimos o livro de reclamações. Em vez do livro veio a suposta dona pois nem se apresentou. Pediu desculpa e sugeriu escolhermos outras comidas mas infelizmente o menu não permite grandes escolhas. Insistiu que não havia necessidade de escrever no livro de reclamações pois que nos iria preparar outra comida. Desisti do livro só para me livrar dela e ir jantar noutro sitio. Ficou indignada. A essa senhora desejo-lhe tudo de bom na vida e que seja feliz com o valor que lhe paguei por uma única refeição miserável. Se querem comer bem e sentirem-se seguros em tempo de pandemia, NÃO RECOMENDO. Ficam as fotos...
