Booked Atlantic Azorean 2 weeks ago. Received confirmation email. Arrived on time and identified myself and was told they had no record of my reservation. Showed the confirmation email and mysteriously it was found, but for only 4 people. Well, here is the confirmation which clearly states 5. Went upstairs with the hostess and was told to “Tell Fat Mike the situation and he will take care of you”. Arrived on the top floor and offered pleasantries to “Mike”, only to be told our reservation was cancelled and that he sent a notification. With Mike beside me, we searched for a cancellation from the same email address of the confirmation and none was to be found! We were tired and hungry and I wasn’t much in the mood for nonsense. Mike tried to shuffle me off. When I called his nonsense out, Mike asked me to take it downstairs as to not disturb the guests seated. Pfft! Upon arriving down stairs, I requested to speak with the manager. He stood behind the kitchen (which was dirty), and played dumb.
Felt a little Anti-American to be honest.
Went next door to Mercado da Vila that took us without a reservation and we enjoyed a fabulous family dinner! Avoid Atlantico at all cost!!
Response: Lol - YOUR staff referred to Mike that way multiple times. I’m glad we can both agree it’s rude and classless! And no, never once did you offer a table inside. Just simply that our “reservation was...
Read moreThis restaurant no longer has sushi at all. The hostess and the server, Michael, were very pleasant. Excellent service. However, the restaurant is overpriced relative to other restaurants we visited during our two week visit. When we arrived at 7p we were seated and immediately noticed the sound of construction upstairs. Electric saws, hammering, loud talking, etc. We asked if it would be stopping and the server told us he was trying to get the owner to stop. It did not stop. I got octopus for an appetizer. It was flavorless and not seared at all. Boring. We were halfway through a bottle of wine and I had enough of the noise. I went upstairs myself and politely asked the owner and his helper to stop working or we would need to leave. I wasn’t paying top dollar to listen to this noise. It was absolutely absurd. The owner gave me a disdainful look and turned away. Later he came to my table and apologized but it was obligatory and I said no problem and offered my hand to shake as a gesture. He dismissed me and walked away. He walked around steaming mad the rest of the meal. We ordered sirloin and tenderloin and they came out looking identical. Same piece of meat. Tasted identical. Not bad, but not tender as you would expect a tenderloin to be. All in all, the most expensive meal and the worst experience we had on São Miguel. I’d go elsewhere. We...
Read moreAvoid as plague. I think this is one of the worse experiences I had in a restaurant in my whole life. The guy at the front door, whoever he is, is rude as hell. Twice we went and he gave us rude responses as of booking and stuff.
We arrived at 8, ordered sushi and at 9 the waitress came saying that the chef was too busy and the restaurant was full and he couldn't make it - one hours after ordering!! So we order some pasta and the octopus. It came after 40 minutes and still after 90 minutes we didn't have our drinks in the table. I had to tell the waitress off to bring the damn drinks at least - 90 minutes waiting there idle with not even a drink?
The octopus arrived and it was chewy as hell. I'm from Galicia and I have octopus in all shapes and forms constantly, and this was not a good octopus by any stretch of the imagination. Then the pasta had a watery sauce that tasted to nothing and the salmon and mussels were extremely overcooked and dry as the dessert.
Desserts were decent at least.
We paid 72 for one of the worst...
