Café Offline — Restaurant in Vila Nova de Gaia

We had a dinner here and were sitting at the bar table. The barman served drinks right in front of us. For an hour that we spent there he washed glasses after beer, wine and juice of about 30 times and poured drinks for new visitors into them. How was this process organised? He took dirty glass, brought under water tab, poured in some water and splashed into basin. Poured some water second time and splashed again. And that's it. The glass is clean and ready for some beer for the new visitor! No soap. Not even one touch to the edge of the glass that was touched by tens of mouths without being properly cleaned even once! Such neglect of sanitary norms...

The food was really good and the waiters were very friendly. The reason I give it two starts is that when we arrived, they brought two small plates of appetizers (fried dumplings, ham bread, croquets) and I thought it was a courtesy or that at least it would be 5-10€. When the bill came, they charged 24€ for the appetizers we did not even ordered. These appetizers cost twice as much as any of the dishes we ordered (a burger, a hotdog and a francesinha). I wish the waiter would have mentioned the cost before they left them on the table. I felt it was a...

An almost complete disappointment... The food is great. It really is, but the size of the meal took a turn for the worst possible outcome. This was the third time we went to eat a good francesinha, but with each visit it becomes more expensive and less value per € spent. Not to mention we can't stop having the feeling of being watched and controlled throughout the meal.

PS: The card reader has been on vacation since the last full moon of 5 years ago... Just ridiculous at this point considering the value for a meal. So if visiting, better...
