It was OK experience but not to repeat. We went to this restaurant to have dinner last week in August 2025. The restaurant is located in Rua do Marquês da Sá da Bandeira, Vila Nova de Gaia after the roundabout. 1. The staff is nice and friendly. 2. We ordered francesinha special and cachorro special with German sausage. My partner could not see the meat of his francesinha. For the price 13 euros including with the potato chips, the meat could be better. The francesinha was small. My cachorro special costs 9 euros. The bread was hard. I believe I can get better cachorro in the other place with the same price. The positive thing is the sauce. It is tasty. 3. The payment can be in cash or multibanco.

Comer uma francesinha no Mon Ami é quase um ritual — daqueles que começam ainda antes de o prato chegar à mesa. Assim que entras, o ambiente já te prepara: descontraído, com aquele cheirinho característico do molho a pairar no ar. O som das conversas e o tilintar dos copos cria uma atmosfera caseira, quase como se estivesses numa reunião entre amigos. Quando a francesinha chega, vem fumegante, servida com aquele aspeto generoso que quase te faz pensar: “Como é que vou dar conta disto tudo?”. O pão ligeiramente tostado envolve as camadas de bife, linguiça, salsicha fresca e fiambre — cada dentada traz uma combinação de sabores reconfortante e robusta. Mas o coração da experiência é o molho: espesso, aromático e com aquele equilíbrio perfeito entre picante, adocicado e um toque de cerveja que o torna viciante. É impossível não molhar a batata frita atrás de batata frita até ao fim. A cada garfada, o molho escorre, o queijo derrete-se sobre a carne e o prato transforma-se numa verdadeira prova de resistência gastronómica.

Ora bem ja aqui tinha sido falado pela positiva e fui conhecer esta francesa, Pedi a francesinha a MOn Ami em bolo de caco e com bife do lombo ( frisei que queria o bife bem passado e enchidos bem passados ) é assim que gosto, posso dizer que o staff sao mt simpaticos e atenciosos no entanto tendo chegado as 19h esperei bastante tempo, vindo a francesa e a batata pedi outro fino pois o que tava na mesa ja tinha ido, comi um quarto da francesinha e o fino n vinha, tive que insistir e la veio ( comer a seco é que nao da ), molho tradicional mas na minha humilde opiniao nao me convenceu mt mas mt abaixo do cafe ao lado o belo ponto, as batatas foi msm o pior todas desfeitas e ao metelas no molho ficaram tipo asorda .... o enchidos e bife sao de elevada qualidade no entando vieram mal passados e n fizeram o que pedi, valeu pelo bife, estava a espera de mt mas mt melhor. No fim e passado meia hora este molho é daqueles que deixa sede mt sede e secão. Preço: 15,50€ com batata e ovo Pontuaçao 6/10

We arrived here for breakfast and was greeted by a waiter who did not speak English. He called over who I assume is the owner, Silvia. She was so pleasant and welcomed us very warmly. She provided us a menu and helped walk through our order. The food came out delicious and we really enjoyed. This place gave my husband such a warm and comfortable feeling that we decided to return with our family members on our last day! We were able to be taken care of by Silvia again which we were thrilled about. If we ever return again, we will most definitely pay Mon Ami and...

Once a really great restaurant it is now a shell of what it was. Service was terrible, food never came after 1 hour, no explanations on why other tables that arrived later got theirs besides a "It's not our fault". The owner/manager was very unpleasant and rude. A friend of mine actually got to taste the food on another occasion and said that it wasn't anything special or good which in Porto and Gaia with so many more good places makes thia place not worth going.
