A beautiful restaurant with friendly service and good value deals, however, an overall disappointing experience.
I visited Morimoto yesterday to enjoy their ‘after work’ package, having previously enjoyed the same in February 2024. Despite the restaurant being virtually empty at the time of arrival (with only a few guests by the time we left 2.5 hours later), we were forced to sit in a particular area of the restaurant, which I was told was designated for their ‘after work’ deal.
This was very disappointing, considering the other part of the restaurant is a lot more aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to sit in, and it is where I was seated when I came previously last year for the same ‘after work’ deal!
I was informed that that section (which is much nicer) was reserved for ‘diners’. I was then asked whether we would be ordering food, and I confirmed that we would be ordering food (I subsequently ordered food from the ‘after work’ menu and the other party ordered food from the a la carte menu), but this still wasn’t good enough for them.
It was unusual that the seating ‘rules’ had changed. The area we were sat in wasn’t particularly nice, and I also found it extremely cold, perhaps due to being so close to their frozen seafood.
Their unwillingness to make accommodations or show flexibility was disappointing, especially considering how few people were there. They should not underestimate the difference this makes to one’s overall experience. Whilst their deals are good value, my feelings towards a place (like most people) are also guided by how that establishment makes you feel. Based on that, I’m not sure I...

✨ Modern Japanese dining with style at Morimoto Doha ✨
Located inside the Mondrian Hotel, Morimoto Doha is one of the city’s most visually impressive restaurants. The interior is stunning – dramatic high ceilings, golden accents, and a bold design that makes it feel like dining inside a piece of art 🏯✨. Perfect for a special night out or when you want to impress guests.
🍣 Food: The menu combines Japanese classics with Morimoto’s creative twist. Sushi and sashimi are fresh and beautifully plated. The wagyu beef dishes are exceptional 🥩🔥, and the toro tartare is a must-try for seafood lovers. Portions are smaller than casual dining, but that’s expected for this fine dining style.
🍸 Drinks: Signature cocktails are fun and well balanced 🍹. The sake selection is excellent, and the staff can help pair it with your dishes for the full experience.
🙌 Service: Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Staff explain the menu well and guide you through the signature dishes if it’s your first time.
💰 Price: Morimoto is pricey 💳 – but that’s part of the package for a celebrity chef restaurant. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Doha, it’s worth it.
🌅 Tip: Arrive early and enjoy the Mondrian Hotel lobby – it’s one of the most Instagrammable spots in Doha 📸. At Morimoto, try to get a booth table for the best atmosphere.

Nice place with beautiful decor. Comfortable with a night club like lounge feel.
Customer service: 5/5 staff was very attentive and polite.
Noodles: 2/5 noodles and broth were good but the biggest issue was that the prawn tempura had been sitting in the broth for too long. So we ended up getting a soggy and wet piece of tempura.
Sushi set: 3/5 flavours were plainly average. Sashimi slices were cut too thin. Maki rolls were rolled loosely and some had filling that was too salty. Karaage filling was tough and not fresh. Rice cracker was tough and tasted a bit odd. The takoyaki flavour sushi was nice and tasted almost like a real takoyaki.
Steak: 3/5 the doneness of the steak was a good medium rare however there was no taste of a sear. The seasoning used to sous vide it was salty and made the steak quite salty. The Bearnaise sauce accompanying the steak was strange and had a mashed potato like consistency. Parmesan truffle fries as a side did not match the Asian flavours of the steak and vegetables dish. I would suggest something like sweet potato fries with mentaiko sauce or furikake.
Dessert: 5/5 very well done overall. Black sesame macaron was not too sweet and packed a lot of flavour. Creme caramel was delicious and the sorbets were tangy to cut the sweetness from the other desserts. A variety of fresh fruits were served on the side too. The liquid nitrogen gimmick was quite...
