My wife, our son, and I had a layover at Qatar’s Hamad International Airport. Our hotel provided each of us with 100 Qatari Rials ($112 CAD/$82 USD) vouchers. There was a list of restaurants we could use, but Red Restaurant was the closest, so we decided to try it.
The restaurant was spacious with plenty of seating. There were seats that overlooked the gates, or you could sit in a quieter area. Since the airport wasn’t very busy, we chose the more open side.
Our server was a friendly gentleman who promptly brought a high chair for our son and gave us ample time to order. Looking at the menu, I thought the prices seemed reasonable for an airport restaurant. We ordered a green tea and shared that as our drink.
We started by ordering the Soup of the Day, which was a pumpkin soup. While I’m not a big fan of this type of soup, I thought it was a good option if that’s all they had. And wow, I was pleasantly surprised! The soup tasted delicious and came with warm pieces of buttered bread.
Next, I ordered the Red Classic burger and fries. The burger had fried mushrooms, caramelized onions, cheese, and lettuce. The burger patty was thick and flavorful, and the whole thing was fantastic. It was a bit greasy, but that’s not a bad thing. My wife ordered the Fish and Chips, which came with two decent sides of fish and the same type of fries as my burger. The fish was hot and definitely freshly fried. They had tartar sauce, which tasted good with both the fish and fries.
Our server was kind enough to offer a takeaway container for us since we were both full. He packed it up for us, which was greatly appreciated. He also entertained our son a bit by picking up his toys that he would throw down.
The total for everything was $295 Qatari Rials. If you’re in the airport, it seems to be about the norm. Obviously, outside the airport, it’s cheaper, but if you have no other option and want to sit down and unwind, it’s a nice spot to...

We paid €50 for our meal, which included one tea and one coffee, but the price felt completely unjustified considering the shockingly rude behavior of the staff. One server, who appeared to be of South Asian/Indian descent, practically threw our plates on the table, barked something unintelligible in a thick accent, and then rushed off without a trace of courtesy. This kind of service is simply unacceptable, especially in an international airport where travelers expect basic hospitality and respect. It's a shame that the staff's appalling attitude completely overshadowed the dining experience. I would strongly advise against visiting Red Red Restaurant unless you're prepared to tolerate shockingly rude behavior and small portions. There are plenty of other dining options at HIA where you can expect decent service and value for your...
Read moreMy wife and I had lunch here during our long stopover to our next flight. The food and service here is top notch. We arrived at 11:40am and had just missed out on breakfast. Although we were looking forward to have eggs for breakfast, breakfast was closed. So we decided to order lunch instead. We did not regret one but of it, in fact, quite pleased we ordered lunch instead.
The service is very professional and not in a cheesy way. They are genuinely nice and very attentive. Wife ordered fish and chips (75qar) and I ordered a Classic burger (110qar). Food was excellent. We've had many fish and chips and Burgers in our lives and could say we've never had such tasty food. The chips were also generous and crunchy. There also was cute little jars of sauces.
The food here is exceptional value for money. Save yourself the trouble and eat here. You'll be paying more at other places for less food.
I'll let the photo speak for itself.
And shoutout to Rendy our waiter. Keep up...
