A brand's success is not measured by its greatest wins or deepest downfalls, but rather by the small everyday victories it accumulates. Progress is obscured behind studio headlights and magazine titles.
This is the approach I took with today's dinner at Artegianale. I could have easily chosen the most expensive and selected menu options, letting the ingredients speak for themselves, which, as a man of exquisite taste, I enjoy doing so much. However, this time I wanted to taste something more representative of a brand. I desired something simple and familiar, like a discussion with a friend or a date between a 30-year-old married couple. I craved something real.
As such, I started our culinary journey with an elegant composition from the house specialty selection: a mixture of curated cheeses, prosciutto, and meats. The premium selected ingredients provided an authentic taste explosion within the humble range of 10€.
Complementing these culinary delights was the Reguta Altro Passo wine, which, despite its mid to low price range (20€), revealed depth of character. This wine presented a ruby-red hue adorned with violet reflections. Its aroma exuded exquisite elegance, revealing fruity nuances of blueberry and blackberry, accompanied by subtle toasted and vanilla undertones. On the palate, it unfolded as a dry, warm, and full-bodied experience.
For the main course, we had a portion of Quattro Formaggi pasta: a decadent symphony of Parmesan, Gorgonzola, Pecorino, and Asiago. The velvety blend coated al dente pasta, creating a rich, indulgent masterpiece—a must-try for cheese aficionados. Priced at 8€.
For dessert, I opted for something reminding me of hot summer days in Sicily. The Sicilian cannoli, a true showstopper, featured a crisp shell filled with ricotta and pistachio. This iconic Italian dessert showcased the pastry chef's expertise in capturing the essence of Sicilian culinary heritage, providing an elegant twist. I won't assign a price range to the dessert because sweet things in life should never be quantified.
All these selections were low to mid-range on their menu, yet I felt at home.
Speaking of ambiance, I visited on a Sunday night, and the place was full. I often found myself looking around, seeing a chorus of people enjoying each other's company. While it's one of those modern restaurants by design, it isn't tainted by the sanitary, almost deadly silence of most modernistic mainstream choices. It lacked the pungent snobism painted over with slow jazz music. I felt at home. I felt like the place was detached from time, and nobody was aware of it. It was natural, true, discrete, and tasteful.
I would like to highlight George, one of the chefs, who, from my understanding, prepared the pasta for one of the gestures he had, or moreover, how this gesture occurred. He joined us briefly to inquire about our experience. What I found delightful was that it wasn't in that almost annoying servitude manner but rather natural and friendly. This showed good etiquette without overblending into our experience.
Furthermore, I'd like to highlight Radu, the barman's, elegance and well-manneredness. He has shown good etiquette as well.
I went into this seeking simplicity and a feeling of home, and I feel I received much more. I feel satisfied because I ordered food, and Artegianale delivered an experience. While my dinner was probably one of the more banal components of tonight's service, without knowing, they achieved delivering what even renowed restaurants can't: an...
Read moreHello! For my birthday I wanted to take out my boyfriend to none other than one of the most "famous" Italian restaurants in Brașov and honestly, I was disappointed. We made a reservation, the staff was very nice, very professional, the atmosphere was cool, a nice vibe but the food was not very good, in terms of price-quality. I started with an antre with their Italian meat platter that is 86 lei (i don't know why in the menu they specified 43 lei/person if it was mandatory that the platter was for 2 people). We received 8 pieces of meat, 4 pieces of cheese and a mini platter of oiled olives, mushrooms, artichoke etc. Even if it was a "meat" platter the meat was barely in it, so I wouldn't recommend. For the main dish I ordered a Pinsa with mortadela, mozzarella and pistachio (49 lei) and my boyfriend ordered rigatoni with truffle paste (47 lei). The food was ok, nothing really special for the price, but the rigatoni had no taste, like they did not put even a little bit of salt and pepper. I also ordered some olio sauce for the Pinsa, but it was a "mujdei" type of consistency. The beverages were nice, I ordered a mojito (30 lei) and my boyfriend gin tonic (30 lei). In total we paid around 250 lei. This restaurant didn't meet my expectations, but hopefully, in the future, they would change their recipes, at least the "truffle rigatoni" one. Just kidding, but trust me, there are other restaurants in Brașov that are worthy...
Read moreAn outstanding experience! Everything was absolutely perfect.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Nicoleta, as she made every single one of our last visits memorable! Our experiences so far: visited multiple times in the late evening and opted to dine in the garden, as we specifically enjoyed the warm summer evenings away from the noises of the city. We were always seated immediately, even when we forgot to make a reservation, and we didn't have to wait at all for menus or the starter drinks. Nicoleta was the one that tended to us and she was warm, friendly and professional every single time, reading the room and adjusting her approach to each customer, and her suggestions for drinks (especially the wine) and dinner options were stellar.
The quality of the food will help one understand why excellent ingredients prepared following a classic recipe matter so much. You'll never be able to go back to the commercial products after an experience like this.
We enjoyed every single dish that was set in front of us so much so that we can't pick a favorite; however, if you want to know what proper carbonara or ragu beef pasta should be tasting like, look no further.
The pricing was fair, especially considering the quality of the meals, and we greatly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere in the garden!
Definitely our favorite restaurant! A huge, kind and heartfelt 'Thank you!' to all the staff for the wonderful...
