There was a big mess with our booking, made few days earlier. They didn't know where exactly to put us and they were trying to send us to the upper floor where is the Japanese restaurant, which looks a bit like a cantine. Then they recieved a huge group and once they discovered that we should stay in the Indan restaurant they asked to wait until some table gets free. After some 20-25 minutes we left. It's an Indian restaurant, with an Indian style of management, which is not very suitable for Moscow. Or you have to be ready to have a REAL Indian experience in Moscow. I guess the food is good, according to the level, but nothing special. I would afford myself to go there just with a VERY relaxed people, who where already in India and will understand that the staff was really trying to do it's best, but that's how the Ondian style is- a real mess, from which, I have to admit, sometimes you may receive a real pleasure. The interior is kind of Baroque (a try for Luxury), but old and dark and kind of suppressing. I would recommend it to people which would like more to touch to the Indian culture and everyday kitchen rather then go for a...
Read moreThe food was generally good, the variety was also wide. However, service was absolutely abysmal. At 9.15 pm, with the restaurant at 25% capacity, there was a gap of more than 45 minutes between the drinks of the two individuals arriving (the second drink was only bought out after asking if they had forgot it or not) The starter took around 20 minutes, which was not so bad. However, once these were finished, it took a another 25 minutes on top for the starters to arrive. Even then, they side did not come together. First, arbitrary, the curry dish arrived. Then 10-15 minutes later, the bread arrived. Upon waiting for the final starter, we had to ask again whether they had forgotten the order or not. With a very confused response, and another 15 minutes later, the accompanying mains finally arrived. Almost two hours spent at the restaurant, with around half the time waiting for accompanying dishes to arrive. It would probably help in the future if the waitress did not take the order on a napkin. Good food spoilt by extremely poor attention and service. I would hate to think how bad the service is when the restaurant had...
Read moreTo reach here from by bus you have to get down at 'Transagentstvo' (Трансагентство) stop in Leninsky Avenue. Bus No. 4, 111, 553, 1187, N1, m1, m4 are stoping. Just beside the road you will see a building named 'Sputnik'. Darbar restaurant is in 16th floor of this building. One of the very few places in Moscow to get Indian food. Taste is good. There is sufficient variety of nonvegiterian dishes to choose, but vegiterian dishes are few. From the window there is very beautiful view of the city specially at night, and also the Luzhniki Stadium. They plays popular hindi songs specially from 90s. The prices are quite high but if you are in Moscow for any India embassy work or u are linked with them, they give straight 50% discount in the final bill. Majority of south Asian people here are coming specially from India. Most of staff knows hindi, Indian and Russian both.
Update: Darbar is shuttingdown for renovation for about 2 months. It will start just before FIFA...
