Terrasa — Restaurant in Murmansk

My experience at this place was kind of a mixed bag. The first visit was alright, with decent service and good food. But, my second visit didn't hit the mark.

The main letdown was feeling like the staff wasn't completely honest with us. We ordered crab phalanges cooked in seawater. But when they came out, they were cold, and it looked like some of the meat was missing. We asked the waitress about it, but she seemed more standoffish than helpful. It felt like they might've given us the leftover phalanges from making salads or something.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, since it might have just been a one-off thing. But I can't just brush it off.

Terrasa Restaurant was the best dining experience of my week-long trip to the Murmansk region. I didn’t try anything better anywhere else - every dish was exceptional.

The service was outstanding, especially our waiter Vlad, who was kind, attentive, and made our meal even more enjoyable.

The food was incredible. We tried seafood, duck, black grouse, wild boar, bear, and deer meat, along with an amazing Finnish soup and deer burgers. It sounds like a wild selection, but everything was perfectly prepared and delicious.

The interior design was decent, but otherwise the place is hugely overrated. I went there because it was 100 m from my hotel. On a calm weekday, when the place was half-empty, it still took the waiters 20 mins just to take the order. Not willing to wait too much longer, I ordered the quickest options: a smoothie, chowder, and a plate of fries. Both dishes were quick enough but virtually flavorless, the fries pale and limp. The smoothie came only after I'd finished eating, in a glass clearly too tall to be used in a low-couch-high-table situation, and with a ridiculously short straw.
