Kvartirka Na Maloy Sadovoy — Restaurant in Palace District

I give it five stars on the CCCP scale. This is not a tourist restaurant. Its a casual local restaurant with a Soviet nostalgic vibe. Very cool.

Food was excellent! Staff was welcoming and spoke English well (I’m sorry my Russian is not bette). Dishes were delicious and prepared to order with care. Drink selection was large.

We had: Beef Stroganov over buckwheat, excellent. I beef and vegetable bowl thing, excellent. Ginger infused vodka, nice!

Location, easy to find approximately 80 meters off of Nevsky Ave.

Price: Very reasonable (actually very cheap) so you can afford to tip the...

It is a very lovely place with tasty snacks and nice russian beer. It seems very traditional in all its facets: decoration, food, beer, music, etc. And also the prices are very cheap.

Well... ok, the music I don't really know. But my russian girlfriend knew the songs from old sowjet movies. They also played a lot of Modern Talking, I don't know, if they played it, because I'm from Germany or it was just a funny coincidence.

In any case, I loved it there. And I really hope, Sovetskoye Kafe still will be there, when I will return to...

It's like a museum serving good and very affordable food. My Russian friend was happy there because it tasted like it's supposed to be, my vegetarian friend was happy because there was food she enjoyed. And I was happy because of the combination.
