Ruski restautant? - More like Ruski Ruolette!
As much as I PERSONALLY want to give them 1 star, It wouldnt be a fare review. Food - 3/5, Depends on what you order, its either tasty or average, in the worst case - food poisoning (which my wife got) Service - 1/5, Depends on who you gets, Our waiter was very pushy and very rude. Location - 5/5, It is on the highest skyscrape in moscow, very beautiful view. Price - Quite expensive, Depends though on what you order, some is above average. Its was not worth my money!
Be aware: Speak russian!! because if you an english speaking person like me, the waiter try to fool you! And i hope you wont get food poisoned like my wife. If the food comes out quickly, tell them you dont want it.
Overall summary - 2/5
My experience: Firstly I called and booked a table for 2. Two times they didnt understand english, told me to wait and hung up on me (VERY RUDE). After a while I finally got some russian speaking person to book the table for me.
Me and my wife were celebrating 8,5 years anniversary - what could beat a nice view in the night of big city of moscow on front of your feets. The answer is THE WAITER and THE FOOD!
We sat down in the nice corner with a panoramic view (Awesome). Before we had time to sit down, the waiter came along (felt a little stress) and asked if we want to order anything predish, maindish or something to drink. After some time we order the meals and drinks. LITTERALLY 1 min later, the food came out (I was very suspicous), How could they make my beef tartare in under a minute? So I suspects its very much prepared in advance or either its old (Maybe someone didnt want their meal so I got it?). Anyway, the food tasted alright, above average. It wasnt bad so I didnt complain.
When I was done eating, the waiter tried to push me to order a maindish and dessert. I replied that was my maindish and that i want to order a drink instead, HE LEFT! He really dissapeared. He never came back to us until the end. Instead another waiter came and I ordered the drink from him and after a looooong waiting a waitress came and delivered me the drink.
When I finally asked for the bill, the waiter asked if I wanted to tip, (even after the POOR service I politely said YES). He then typed in as much as he WANTED to get tipped (There is no rule that you need to tip in RUSSIA and they NEVER expect any tip, It is just a polite gesture if the service been good) I told him that I rather choose myself how much i want to tip. He then said its either this much or nothing. So in the end I gave nothing. He was so upset he threw down the bill in the table in front of me and said "as you wish" and went away. I was shocked and surprised. Never ever in anywhere in any restaurants in RUSSIA ive been treated like this. I was so shocked I had to complain somewhere. The problem is no one could speak nor understand english. So they took up their phone and started google translating.
2 hours later after getting home. My wife started feel bad, dizzy and started to puke very much. She got obviously food poisoned...
Read moreThis was my second visit to this restaurant in as many years. The first visit was a delight: great food, excellent service, a million-dollar view of the entire city from the 86th floor of the building considered to be the tallest observation deck in Europe. And then some! However, a year later our attempt to repeat the delight of our first experience turned out to be a miserable flop. We came as a group of 5 with an advanced reservation on a Monday night for a birthday party of a friend. A request to have a table by the window was turned down at the time of reservation (at least a week in advance) because apparently one has to come to the restaurant in person and put down a cash deposit (no credit card deposits are accepted by phone). Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess' "Welcome to our restaurant, it's cash only." Considering that the restaurant is quite expensive, be prepared to have a gob of cash on you (at least $70-100/person). Despite the fact that there were quite a few empty tables by the windows (the place is quite huge), we were seated in the middle at a very large round table by the kitchen. The music - whether live or recorded as the two alternate - is quite loud and makes it difficult to have a conversation. Worst of all was the service: an ill-mannered waiter by the name of Vladimir after learning that we weren't interested in having him serve group dishes at his own discretion immediately lost interest in us as clients and proceeded to treat us very rudely and sarcastically. Half way through the evening he’d disappeared altogether and we had to look for somebody else to serve us tea and deserts (he did reappear just before we left but continued to ignore us until the very end.) Note that as a restaurant client you are entitled to a 50% discount to go to the rooftop observation deck for an outstanding experience of seeing and feeling the huge Moscow metropolis. You can also take a picture in front of a landmark sign (in Russian) “Only Love is Above.” On most weeknights, the observation deck is open until 10 pm (of course our friend Vladimir assured us that it was until midnight, which is why we had almost missed it). Please inquire with the restaurant staff about the working hours of the observation deck (hopefully someone other than Vladimir). If it wasn’t for the food and the view, I wouldn’t have given even the 2 stars. The food is quite good no matter what you order. And if you are into sampling the cliché a la Russe experience of drinking vodka inside a room made up entirely of ice dressed in a fur coat, you will have that opportunity as well. Yet, all things considered, I vowed not going to that restaurant ever again. Good/excellent restaurants are abundant in Moscow. Many of them offer not just a wonderful view but also delightful ambiance. Unfortunately Ruski is no longer...
Read moreOur overall positive experience has been completely ruined by a rude restaurant staff.
We don't speak russian, so we asked for a waiter who speaks english. It turned out he wasn't, but, with a struggle, we managed to order.
First of all, waiter informed us that the kitchen is not able to serve us with a meal we didn't order. Turns out he confused two dishes, fortunately, due to the lack of the ingredients, we were saved and we corrected our order.
Second of all, we were served starters along with a main course, not really a good way to serve a meal.
Third of all, I was served a wrong meal, which was two times more expensive that the one I ordered. I ate it and I didn't really noticed (both were red meat with a sauce), so I was quite surprised when I was handed a bill.
I called a waiter, asked him to explained it, and, after 20 minutes, I was told that the manager does not speak english and he decided (he didn't show up at the moment) that I, quote: "I ate it, so I should pay for it."
I called a manager, and, after another 20 minutes, manager came to me and told me in english, in a presence of a waiter who served for us, that somebody has to pay for it, either me or the waiter. It was absolutely rude, humiliating for a waiter and totally ruined our dining experience. We were a bit on a rush, so I decided to pay a full amount and leave.
I've been to a hundreds of restaurants and encountered a lots of issues with my meals, but there was always a will to resolve it. Unfortunately not this time.
It was a worst restaurant...
