Piatto Restaurant — Restaurant in Al Maathar Municipality

Yesterday I went to Piatto in Panorama mall and let me tell you. It is NOT up to standard with the rest. I show up with my husband and walk in to a bored looking receptionist who did not even lift her head up to say hi, just kept looking at her phone lost in whatever that screen was projecting instead of actually guiding us to a table. It was quite funny actually, but anyway we find a table for ourselves and proceeded so sit down not before getting some sort of approval from one employee who nodded to let us now it was okay to sit on a big couch even tho we where only two. We scan the QR code and pick what we want to eat but nobody was around to take our order. Well actually they where but nobody was paying attention to this side of the restaurant therefore where not able to see all the times we waved at them so they could come and assist us. A waiter comes and with little will to live this guy takes our appetizer and drinks order until we decide what we want for main course. Some time goes while nobody is looking at us and finally we see a girl cleaning the table infront of us and my husband calls her but she made some kind of gesture with her hand telling us to wait, I’m like okay she’s probably cleaning staff and will get someone for us to take our order but no, she just wanted to finish what she started and then come to us. I guess the guest is not really a priority but anyway. This one with a better attitude assisted us and finished taking our order. By this time like 10 min had gone by from the time we ordered the starters but they where yet to be seen. Me wondering what is going on in this place I look around and notice that they are nowhere near full capacity. More that half of the spots are empty and still the service is lacking. Finally food arrives, but food only, no drinks in sight. Okay, I’m hungry anyway so we start eating what was mentioned to by crispy shrimp and calamari but ended up being more than half oily onion rings and fried zucchini when it wasn’t even a mention of these two on the menu. We get to half way of finishing this thing and the drinks are not even there yet. I start waving again. No one is looking. Even the guy who seemed to be the supervisor of this place never turned his head around to scan the room. Finally drinks arrive and what was supposed to be iced tea was actually syrup with some lemon juice even when my husband specified not wanting sugar on the drink. A new guy now comes with a lot better attitude and does us the favor of getting a new drink with proper flavor of tea instead of this artificial thing they made previously. Only after this we got the bread basket and salad that’s ment to be served at the very beginning and later we received the under cooked main course. My husband was fine with this but let me tell you receiving medium rare steak when you specified a different temperature shouldn’t happen. Specially after all the things mentioned above, but I’m sure nobody noticed. It must be that they are used to...

Visited this place with a colleague. Overall, it made a pleasant impression.

Advantages:

1. Convenient location. There are always free parking lots near Panorama Mall. And the mall itself is not bad.

2. A varied selection of Italian dishes.

3. There is a lunch offer that runs from 11am to 6pm. Adequate pricing for lunch offer. You pay for the main course and have unlimited salads and drinks - but the latter isn't all.

4. The dishes are delicious. I liked my Piatto burger with fries, which was quite original and my colleague said the same about his lamb on the bone.

5. Cooking time is acceptable.

6. The interior is quite simple but pleasant.

Disadvantages:

1. Prices. They are high, given that the restaurant is not located in a separate building, does not have glass walls that could protect customers from annoying ambient noise - it is surrounded by a food court with all the ensuing consequences. So, I would say that prices are above average for this category of restaurants.

2. Low qualification of personnel. The waiter got confused in the menu, constantly leaves somewhere and then comes back while you are trying to place an order.

3. The complete menu is presented in digital form only.

4. Drinks, which are quite expensive, did not surprise me with anything. However, perhaps that is why only some of them are available in the lunch offer. At the same time, the prices for all drinks are about the same and it is not clear why more drinks could not be made available for lunch offer.

5. Ice cream was not available. Why is not clear. When it will be available, the waiter also does not know.

The ambiance was nice, and the service was excellent; our server was Jake, and I must say he was a very humble, polite, and respectful person. Definitely giving him 5⭐️ for extraordinary service.

They had a special lunch offer. Buy 1 main course dish -free bowl of soup🥣 -free salad🥗 -free drink🍹 -free ice cream 🍧

So, for the starter, we had tomato soup and salad; the soup was cold, which I didn’t like, it should be hot, and for the salad bar, the pasta was hard, but the veggies were fresh. There should be more options of sauce.

For the main course, we ordered:

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢 𝐚𝐥𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚: ⭐️𝟐/𝟓 Overall, the taste was ok, and we asked to add the pink sauce to it. The pasta was cooked nicely, and the chicken was too, but it felt like it wasn't fresh.

𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧: ⭐️𝟎/𝟓 The reason for 0 was that the chicken in this dish was very chewy and wasn't fresh, and the sauce on top was very salty. Overall, we didn't enjoy this dish, but upon informing them about it, they replaced our plate and offered us to order any other dish from the menu, Which was very nice of them.

We replaced it with 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐳𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡: ⭐️𝟑/𝟓 after all the dishes, this burger turned out to be really good. The chicken was nicely cooked, had good taste, and the fries were crispy.

𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫: ⭐️𝟑/𝟓 (I forgot the name of it, it was number 47 in the menu) The taste was good. Nicely cooked and presented.
