Today, I opted for the Iftar menu at Mr Chow’s. Having had an exceptional experience on my previous visit—both in terms of service and food—I was unfortunately left disappointed this time.

Since it was Ramadan, I was particularly looking forward to the Iftar menu. However, I was surprised to find that water wasn’t included. Breaking a fast after hours without food or drink, it seems like common sense to provide water as a basic necessity.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The menu stated that Laban, dates, and the soup of the day would be served before the starters. However, we only received the Laban and dates, with no mention of the soup. When we finally requested it, the soup arrived cold and was quite unpleasant to eat.

For the mains, we ordered sea bass, but it had an overpowering smell, which was quite disappointing. As someone who enjoys seafood, I’ve had sea bass many times and never encountered this issue.

For dessert, we weren’t offered the coffee that was listed on the menu and had to request it separately—something that should have been served automatically.

Although my first visit to Mr Chow’s was fantastic, and I had highly recommended it to others, the Iftar experience was underwhelming. I regret choosing it for Iftar and wish I had gone elsewhere. Authentic Chinese dining experience in Riyadh!

Having traveled to China twice, I can say that Mr. Chow offers some of the most authentic Chinese flavors I’ve experienced outside of Asia. Unlike many Western interpretations, the dishes here are rich in traditional aromas and taste, taking me right back to the streets of Beijing or Shanghai.

As a vegetarian, I was happy to find a good variety of delicious, well-balanced options. You can see directly into the open kitchen, where it's clear that most of the chefs are Chinese, adding a sense of culinary credibility and cultural connection. Some of them even bring the food personally to the table and beautifully arrange it on your plate – an elegant touch that goes hand in hand with the extremely friendly and attentive service.

The branding is stunning: from the printed chttlery and plates to the elegant silver water box, every detail is visually appealing. I also loved the illuminated circles in the center of the tables – a modern flair on the traditional round table design that fosters conversation and connection, whether you come for a business dinner, a friends' gathering, or a family meeting.

The music was upbeat and fun, almost danceable – if you’ve been to Asia, you’ll recognize that joyful, karaoke-inspired vibe that adds to the atmosphere.

Even the restrooms were exceptional – stylish and fully equipped for a proper handwashing ritual.
