El Camino — Restaurant in Municipality of Al Shamal

The place is beautiful, great music , and open space. But I left the place with big disappointment, first the server; Many things can be , she was new, not prepared, not efficient in the language…. But did not connect with us, she didn’t know the plates, what did they had, what to recommend. Besides this when I gave her the order she repeated it, all good and clear, but when the food came she said I never told her any changes or specific instructions, ex: nachos without meat, the tortilla for the taco we wanted corn not white flour, the drinks with no ice. Let’s say a mixup happened, but the least that could be done was offer to make the changes or fix some of the mistakes that where made.

Secondly and the biggest disappointment of all , the food quality. The ingredients were not fresh , I heard great things about their mole, and guacamole . The guacamole was not fresh( it tasted like the ones you get back home X brand…). The seasonings were blend, no difference between the burritos and the quesadilla or the tacos or the nachos. The nachos, simple but unique from Mexico when it’s made with love. Nothing like a good pico de gallo to make a good impression , with onions , lemon , tomatoes….. ( they must know the recipe better than I do) , unfortunately it missed all the good taste.

I do not post here to complain, but as a Latino here in Saudi Arabia I want our delicious cosine to stand out, and after I heard so many good reviews from the this restaurant, I must say is missing a lot. Hope...

We came here with a reservation. It’s such a hassle to get here because it’s in KAFD. So many checkpoints to cross and every time you have to show your reservation to pass. So going through so many hoops I thought it was going to be a fancy place with good food. We get here and it’s a tiny joint with a diner like ambience. Nothing fancy about it. We were seated on a table by the host. Then handed menus. As I was about to open the menu, a waiter came and very rudely said you can’t sit here, this table is for someone else. So we got up and went to another table. Ordered two drinks, tacos and nachos. The drinks were AWFUL. Reminded me of Applebees but of course applebees prices are a LOT cheaper. Now coming to the food. Oh my god. What a HUGE disappointment! The nachos tasted nothing like nachos. The “cheese” was a white sauce that tasted like tahina. There was nothing to offset the heaviness of the sauce. Just a few tomatoes. They needed some crunch, some sour elements, some spice. All I tasted was the heavy tahina. The tacos were similar. It was just tortillas with pulled meat. No crunch. No onions or any vegetables to add texture to the dish. I had one bite and that’s it. Couldn’t get myself to eat more.

For the price and the effort to get here? 1/10 I will not be visiting again. Especially due to the awfully boring food. Riyadh has MUCH better Mexican food to offer, which is cheaper and easier to access. This isn’t even a fancy place so honestly this place has...

What an amazing experience we had today at the Resturant ! Brilliant waiter ! The whole service is quality and the ambience is ideal. You aren’t shouting over the music. People can speak and enjoy the company they came with. They have a beautiful authentic and delicious menu, very well priced, everything is cooked perfectly.

The service is beyond your expectations. From the waiting staff performance it was clear the manager Carlos made sure they all pulled together to go above and beyond.

Two orders of slow cooked brisket Barrocoa

One order of lamb shoulder tacos

We missed the short ribs quesadilla and the Mole chicken which had sold out.

So we took the sliders and boy were we so lucky.

Best burger : slider / pulled beef sandwich you ever had !

Couldn’t get our mole or short rib so we got sliders instead and wi oh wow were they something else.
