When people think of iconic South Asian dishes, biryani often steals the spotlight—and rightly so. It's a bold, flavorful celebration of spices, meat, and aromatic rice that has earned its reputation across generations and borders. But in the shadow of biryani’s fame, pulao quietly waits for its moment to shine.
Almost everyone I know raves about their favorite biryani spot. Some swear by the fiery Karachi-style, others prefer the fragrant Hyderabadi or the subtle Lucknowi variation. Don’t get me wrong—biryani deserves every bit of the praise it receives. But today, I want to invite you to shift your focus for a moment and give pulao the love it truly deserves.
Pulao is the understated sibling in the rice dish family. It doesn’t scream for attention with bold spices or overwhelming heat. Instead, it offers a more delicate, soulful experience. The way the rice gently absorbs the essence of whole spices, meat stock, and sautéed onions results in a dish that is refined and deeply comforting.
There’s a certain elegance in a well-cooked yakhni (stock-based) pulao. The meat is tender, the rice is fluffy and fragrant, and every spoonful is subtly layered with taste. It pairs wonderfully with a simple cucumber raita, fresh salad, or even a spicy green chutney. Unlike biryani, pulao doesn't try to overpower your palate—it soothes it.
So next time you're at your favorite restaurant or home kitchen debating what to order or cook, I urge you to give pulao a chance. Try it with lamb, beef, chicken, or even vegetables—it never disappoints when made with love and precision.
Let’s stop sleeping on pulao. It might not trend as often as biryani, but trust me—it can quietly...

Read moreFor dine in the seating area is good. Food taste and quality was quite disappointing. We tried 4 different items along with chapati and puri paratha. Chapati was good and paratha was decent. For bbq items only chicken malai boti was good. Chicken reshmi had a weird taste and texture. Kabab fry was very basic and didn’t taste like the one we find in Karachi. Coming to the last and the most disappointing item, seekh kabab. It tasted so bad…. Overloaded with garam masala or other mix of spices and was so overpowering….no way close to a real seekh kabab (looks like it was inspired by the ones you find at indian restaurants). I hope they work on...
