Spago — Restaurant in Shmeisi Municipality

Went to Spago today for an early dinner. The service was outstanding, excellent staff and attentiveness, the food was super delicious, and the decor and ambiance were incredible.

There was a valet stand at the restaurant entrance but no valet, then again it was only a few steps for the Via Riyadh main entrance valet to the back entrance of the restaurant. Staff welcomed us and took us to our table. If you have a driver dropping you off, I suggest to have them drop you off at the main entrance Spago, that way you’ll be seated right away.

Restaurant is less crowded from 6 pm, with it being almost packed around 8 pm.

Drinks/Mocktails were delicious. Had the double happiness, along with the sour. Waiter was kind enough to get us all drinks on the house (it was called Without something - can’t remember the name - but it was great ! We then had a few of the raw starters, amazing hamachi (tuna is a must have !). Had a bunch of starters as well (pepper shrimp, Burrata, sashimi were all wonderful)

Mains included the A5 wagyu cooked to perfection, the filet mignon, the lamb chops, and the crazy lobster all were super delicious.

Chef Wolfgang was constantly between the kitchen and making rounds in the restaurant taking the time to stop by each table for a warm welcome. Extremely humble and down to earth, made us feel at home.

Desserts were all amazing, had the banana pie, the chocolate fondant, and the chef’s sharing dessert. They also gave us some date popsicles on the house, tasted exactly like a Saudi local date-based dessert called “hunaini - حنيني”

Seating closer to the drink bar is more lively, and more quiet towards the back of the restaurant.

Bottom line, highly recommended. Positive vibes from the moment you step in. It’s definitely one of my top restaurants in Riyadh now. Will definitely be visiting...

We dined at Spago in Riyadh for my husband’s birthday. While the atmosphere and food quality were excellent, a series of service issues affected our experience:

At the time of reservation, several details were discussed and confirmed—including the discount, birthday cake, and special touches. However, just two hours before dinner, I received a call that completely changed the plan:

Discount Revoked: The previously confirmed 20% corporate discount was suddenly canceled due to the party size, which led to unexpected costs.

Birthday Cake Unavailable: Although I had confirmed the cake type and personalized message by phone, I was informed last-minute that no cake would be provided. I had to rush to find a replacement just before the dinner.

Mocktails Charged Despite Agreement: Complimentary mocktails were offered as a gesture, but to my surprise, they were later added to the final bill.

Cold Food for Late Guest: One guest who arrived late was served cold, leftover dishes instead of fresh ones, despite being charged the full price.

On top of all, and while the setting and menu were impressive, these last-minute changes and miscommunications left us disappointed, especially for a special occasion that we paid quite a big...

We came for lunch at this restaurant in VIA Riyadh.

The seating area and the service was spectacular. The views from this restaurant are remarkable as well, I apologise for not providing more photos of the place or photos as the food was being served on our plates, which is great hospitality.

We got tuna in the cones, salmon pizza, wagyu steak, potato pure, Brussels sprouts, burrata salad and fried meat.

The tuna cones and the salmon pizza were marvellous, truly loved these 2 dishes the most. The wagyu steak we asked for it to be medium, we got medium well. Potato pure was creamy and smooth, I liked it. The sprouts were served with beacon, it also had the char flavour, possibly my 3rd best dish I had. The burrata salad was very good as well. The fried meat I couldn't comprehend the uniqueness of this dish and I'd not recommend it personally, if it suits your taste please don't lit my opinion deter you.

Overall, this place was a pleasant experience, seating areas, staff and the service. The food was below expectations except for the mentioned dishes. We were served dates ice cream with dates and dates pure, it was a pleasant gesture and a successful mixture it was indeed, truly...
