Maison Kayser (Éric Kayser) — Restaurant in Dakar

While having a beautiful view and classy atmosphere this is a restaurant, and aesthetics should not be the first priority. I was exited to eat here as I heard it was great and I saw it had really good reviews. However no servers came over to our table and we ended up having to call one over. The food came relatively quickly which was nice but they left us without cutlery to eat our meals with for a good 3 minutes. The pepperoni pizza I had was just disappointing. The middle of the pizza was so thin the cheese melted through the base leaving me unsure if there was any dough at all in the centre. There was a good crust thank goodness but the rest of the pizza was a flop. It was twice the price you will pay at any other thin based pizza serving restaurant you can get in Senegal and the only thing different about it was the raw vegetables on top. The rest of the table were also dissatisfied with their orders and said the food was not what they had hoped...

Nice place to have a meal or enjoy some dessert.

The cakes are delicious and a large variety is available. The price is a bit more expensive (compared to Gondole for e.g) though the quality seems to be more or less the same. The 10-20% extra is mostly for the brand, layout, parking, security and service.

The service is a bit slow, especially if you order cakes on the ground floor and to dine in on the 1st floor. Had to wait for at least 10 minutes to get them served.

Nice decorations, air conditioner, and a nice view of the sea. However, if you are a non smoker, you may not enjoy the balcony area as it is a smoking zone.

Service was ok. Picked up an assortment of croissants, beignets, and expensive 24,000 cfa cake, (the cake was a Xmas log roll. The icing was heavy, like paste, not too sweet, but not very flavorful. Just pasty. If I had a choice between a little Debbie Swiss roll and this, I’d pick the little Debbie) and 2 enticing mille feuilles. The clerk handed me a big bag, separate box with cake.
